I'm working on a mini version of Space Crusade. Using a 3D printer, all the minis were scaled down to 50%:
I won't paint any more minis to this (mediocre) level of detail, though... this rush job still took me roughly an hour, and if I keep painting everything this way I'll never get to play the damn game...
The boards will be scaled down to 60%, that way it won't be as crowded. We'll see what the handling will be like, picking up a mini surrounded by other minis might turn out to be quite a hassle. My plan is to print one side of the board with the original artwork and the other with the corresponding modern artwork someone from boardgamegeek did (Based on one of the new Space Hulk versions), so depending on your taste you can play it with an old or a new school aesthetic.

This sounds great! I'd love to see more as you make progress.
I made a "travel" edition of Space Crusade a while back which was basically an Eldar warlock against gretchlin and orks, mixing in a bit of Heroquest for good measure. The board was basically two printed A4 sheets, and I made some doors from plastic card and painted some blank dice. I got stuck on what to do for a large ork mek to replace the dreadnought - which should really be more like the Gargoyle in HQ, I guess. Also wrote a simple android app for the alien event deck.
But yes, please show us more!

Sounds cool - did you ever play it while you were on the road? Did the Eldar warlock get psychic powers? Also, I'd be curious to see pics of the board.

I was hoping to give it a whirl on another pilgrimage to Nottingham, but sadly the pandemic was beginning to rear its ugly head at that time.
It was a very simple setup with the "board" whipped up in GIMP and then printed onto A4. I then selotaped the edges. Only thing I got lazy on was a wall section for the two boards, and now wish I had gone to that effort.
I was very interested in the Eldar Attack expansion as I never had the pleasure back in the day( had Space Crusade and Mission Dreadnought ), but looking at the rules I felt it best to do my own thing and gave the warlock his own psychic-fire-ball attack with 1 heavy & 1 light dice. I liked the idea of a Maiden world being looted by orks and the Warlock wasn't going to stand for it!
Its strange timing you starting this thread as I was having thoughts of late about making a more three dimensional board. I'd like to see how yours looks!

Cool idea for a scenario! Post more pics as soon as you're finished with the walls...
I'd like to do a lot more work on this project, unfortunately the wife is quarantined in the only room where my 3D printer can be operated. Plus, the months leading up to the Christmas holidays are usually the busiest in school, so I'm up to my neck in work.
Btw I'm laminating printouts of the board artwork, then glue it on 5mm MDF boards; I used 3mm boards before for building terrain, and they didn't warp. I'm also planning to build a wooden box for the game with magnetized trays etc. to make the game easy to take along.

Great idea!
Do you intend to glue a copy of the SC bulk doors on your white door frames?

Oh, I just whipped them up as fast I could. Been thinking about a set of doors though, but nothing that yet takes my fancy...
