So listening to the WoT books on Audio while driving, and it's taken me awhile to get to book 6. Each one is 40-60 hours long, and book six is over 80. Long story short there are shocking similarities between Rand late in the books, and the Emperor. Both wield somewhat heretical powers that are not understood by most, and many seek to wage war against these same powers. Both have an army of silent warrior women that use hand gestures to "talk". Granted the Aiel aren't always quiet, but they refrain from talking when about to go to battle. Both characters are men that are from meek and humble origins but are prophesied to be the greatest leaders of their people. Both are slowly going insane. Both use people as objects, and reject human emotion.

Has it ever been said/written about how the writers of the original 40k were big WoT fans?

Well, 1st Ed 40K was published about 3 years before the first WoT book and Adeptus Titanicus(where they really started developing the Horus Heresy as a thing) 2 years before it. So, I think it's rather the other way around(the 6th book was published in '94 a year after 2nd Ed 40K).

Just remember folks. Panic. Panic all the time. It's the only way to survive, other than just being mindful, of course-but geez, that's so friggin' boring. - Aegis Grimm

Well, just few things to consider (including publication years) to begin with:

1.) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hero_with_a_Thousand_Faces

2.) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_Emperor_of_Dune and especially: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organizations_of_the_Dune_universe#Fish_Speakers

PS Personally never was WoT fan as it felt too obviously secondhand and not mocking or tribute.

Without passion we'd be truly dead.
