From the blog post they’ve decided to end supporting the game with effect from 31 March and all minis will be withdrawn from sale so last chance to buy.

On paper it sounds amicable enough, but that's the problem with licensed games. If one side doesn't/can't renew then the plug ends up being pulled pretty much out of nowhere.

Wasn't it still getting new releases? I know it never took the tabletop scene by storm or anything, but I recall it being a middling success.

It lasted longer than I thought it would for sure. Never got into it as I'm not really interested in games that won't let me have "my dudes"

Might pick up models at deep discount for Ash Barker's Last Days.

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

For UK people Troll Trader still have a load of new TWD boosters in their sale for £4.50 each. I also am keeping mine for Last Days

It was actually a really fun game, I liked the ruleset. Miniatures were nice enough too and did a good job of replicating the comic book characters.

Shame to see it stop being sold, although I can understand if its difficult to keep hold of the license.

For the first year or two, it was extremely popular and might have been Mantic's best-selling line.

It was one of those rare wargames that had crossover into board gamer groups, I often saw it recommended in them.

Ruleset is extremely good and really captures the feel of the comics/show with the zombies moving not based on an AI system, but as reactions to the amount of noise players make.

They followed the Comic book arc until the end, so for the fans it is a complete game and still worth getting

Having a 3 month lead time and discount is very good though to get everything you need

I’m surprised to see The Walking Dead coming to an end. Anecdotally, it always seemed well supported with releases and quite popular around the local area.

Personally think it’s only a matter of time before the Hellboy board game also comes to an end with the Embracer acquisition of Dark Horse and Asmodee.

There were still quite a few gaps from the last few stories. I know Princess was missing who fans either love or hate.

I am still a little sad that my character was never made into a miniature as Mantic did hint that maybe I would be in an early retail wave (I won a contest to appear in the comic as one of Negans men. I only appeared a few times and I wasn’t named in the comic but was named in the script and my namesake ended up with a recurring role in the show).

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I am missing the last wave (perhaps two) but most appear to be out of stock. Mantic are hoping to reprint before March so hopefully this does happen.

Hope the license doesn't go to Cryptozoic with their "you know when someone says they're boardgame miniatures they're not even good enough for boardgames" dough-like miniature production.

Mantic mini's were too chunky for me, the boosters never hit a good price point, and the miniatures were hitting variants I wasn't interested in casually. OTOH, I grew up when IP's were never handled properly by their licensees or game designs, to glad to hear WD was treated right by Mantic. Sorry to see the license go.

The comic series has finally come to a conclusion and an ending, so I am not wholly surprised at this also occurring.
