How do you people display your mini when you're done painting it? Needs some suggestions for my models, preferably with a lighting source.
Thanks.

Old pics, but half my stuff lives in a glass fronted bookcase (left).
No lighting, not really sealed vs dust, glass keeps the cat out. But free second hand, so I use it.
My Ultras live in a china cabinet:
Pros: Better sealed vs. dust, built in lights, drawers/cabinet shelves underneath display space. Cons: stupidly expensive for miniature use, large, need to share space with the bar/stemware.
If the nearest Ikea wasn’t a 4 hour drive away, I’d get 3-4 of their cases. Even with that drive, I still think of making a weekend of it.

The IKEA model referenced is called the Detlof, and that's very much what that pic appears to be.
There's various guides and even kits available online to add extra shelves to them too, which is pretty handy as otherwise there's an awful lot of air and not a lot of miniatures in them as they stand out of the box.
From experience, if you do go this route, buy the kit/the parts you need and build the whole thing in one go. Adding them in is by no means impossible, but getting them level etc is harder than it needs to be once it's all assembled.

I might have to put my Stormbird and Thunderhawk on the top, warlord on the side.
Thinking 4 should be enough with a light on the top for each.
I'll get there eventually, but since my ADD is horrible, I'm working on several armies right now, though Orks are my favorite. As well as trying to build a custom chapter. If I'm honest the Ultramarines are probably most like me, strategy if for noobs, the greats focus on logistics (see 1971 Franco-Prussian war). I just don't like their color scheme, nor the Space Wolves (I'm wolf obsessed), though I do like the 30k Space Wolves color scheme. Who was the one that had to paint Bjorn the Fell-Handed?

Sorry, no pics. Not home ATM & will forget to post any later....
Titans, knights, etc & the Thunderhawk reside on various shelves.
Scattered about various book shelves are assorted smaller models from numerous manufacturers.
"Armies"? Those reside in their own carry cases.
These cases are stored on the bottom two shelves of the wall length units I use to hold board games & terrain.

Note if you go for those Deltof stuff, keeping the glass doors in place is pain in the butt. The brackets that hold the glass are friction-fit, which to is to say they can let go at almost any time you open the door. It's a major problem with all-glass construction.
The bookcases with wooden doors and glass are far sturdier. The Billy/Oxberg isn't bad (price wise), and you can insert extra shelves, which you can't do with Deltof.

its good for the price tag, the friction fit issue I've never had experienced it, perhaps is a user installation error? I've assembled 4x cases for myself and friend, only issue was the installation process you may need another person to hold a glass side.
the bad part that I've experienced is the seams by the glass door, every once a while you have to windex the glass shelves as dust do get in.

You definitely need 2 people for installation. The screws that hold the glass in are generally plastic (may be nylon, not sure) and you basically are screwing them down onto the glass as hard as you can without breaking the glass, or the screw, or both. I have an older IKEA glass display case (long and low style) that used metal screws and those weren't fun either.
If the door takes a physical shock (like it's closed quickly), well the co-efficient of static friction for glass isn't that great. You really have to baby it.
And yeah, the glass has gaps and dust can get in. Not generally a huge deal. It's a lot less dust than open shelving.

However, my prefer way to display my minis is on the game board, actually playing games with folks.

The bookcases are only £40 each, the doors about £80 a pair. But I do have four of them in the living room, it does ad up, but worth it.

THIS
I have 6 Ikea Detolf cabinets, and added 3 extra shelves per cabinet.
Make sure to use weatherstrip, or something comparable, to keep the dust out.

I use a couple methods. I was lucky enough to find the cabinet on the left for $100 at a thrift store.
It is very hard to extract the models from the 2 side doors that open.
I use this plexiglass display for 15mm scale minis and role play figures. It was sold for HO scale trains.
I really like the way the entire front hinges out to let me reach in and get what I want. It is pretty dust tight as well.
These are for die cast and model cars. As you can note the ones on the outside are 1/32 and the center one is for 1/24. Notice the center one is from a different manufacturer and uses a grooved top and bottom with a front that slides to access the inside.
Here is how a unit of 10 orcs riders in 28mm scale fit in to the 1/24 case. Not quite able to close the door in 2 ranks with the movement tray, but this shows how much room would be in this case. I do not suggest piling lead minis in to one of these, but plastic should be fine.
There are loads of places to buy these as well as numerous tutorials on how to build your own if you are handy.
Not affiliated with this company, but this is where I got 3 of my cases at- http://www.carneyplastics.com/home
If you can find a used one I think they make great way to hold/protect/display your creations. At full retail they can be pricey.............
