My Printer was printing like a champ, putting out smooth, quality prints. Then all the sudden the prints started to look like dog-poo even though I didn't change any settings. I cleaned the nozzle, tightened the belts, leveled the bed, etc. Nothing seems to help. After a few more rejection-prints, all the sudden things went back to normal and everything looks wonderful again.

Can it be that a roll of PLA tough can have a crappy spot in the center of it?

I think that does happen, where you get a bad section of PLA. My normal issue that usually affects my prints while they are humming along is heat creep that then plugs up the extruder way up and then it is a massive clean out job. I avoid this by running the temp of the extruder just above where is needs to extrude easily. Any higher than it truly needs to be and you can get similar issues of what you are describing, as well.

As long as all runs well now, it certainly could have been a bad spot and hopefully you are past it!
