So since GW did not make plastic versions of Fire Dragons and Warp Spiders ( or scorpions)...

I'd like to convert my own.

Does the armor the Dire Avengers wear look suitably heavier than the Guardians?

I'm thinking DA with modified helmets and fusion guns for FD.

I will sculpt warp spider generators and mod the Guardian helmets for them....

No, the armor of the DA does not look heavier than a guardian. But neither does the armor of the FDs. Honestly, with the right guns/paint I don’t think anyone would notice at a glance. Helmets would fix that.

With the new guardian kit I think there are going to be more options. At the very least, probably some fusion guns. I would use that as my base over DAs. That said, converting DA helms to FD ones would probably be easier.

Not sure how easy it would be to collect spider packs from the new autach kit.

I am thinking of shaving off the crest of the DA helmet and using a dremel and some plastic rod to make a solid crest with the scallops in it.

Sounds like a good plan.

Or if you hold with the new lore, some aspect warriors fight without helmets these days. All the cool kids with their new death god. Easier to get the parts to do.

With the new plastic Guardian set giving you new poses and pistols, it should be really easy to covert plastic FDs, Spiders and Scorpions. Here's some I did years ago:

Nice stuff! What did you use for the spider's generators?

The spider generators are Necron Deathmark torso backs.
