Hi there, I was pondering the following and wonder if you think it’s right

Orks are the equivalent of space marines, physically and unarmoured. So one SM would have pretty even punch up with an ork??

A human is the equivalent of a grot/Gretchin and would have an even punch up

So is a snorting the equivalent of a dog or maybe a chicken… or is there no equivalent. If a snot ping attacked me (I’m a human) would it be much of a threat, I’m assuming it would be pretty rabid and share the orky love of a fight.

Also how clever are snotlings? Dog, chicken or human?

No, coz da Orks is da best. *ahem*
Generally yes, an Ork is a tough cookie and more than a match for an unarmoured Marine.
A Grot though? Eh, depends on the Grot. They're smarter than Orks but that's not saying much. They're also very cowardly.
Snots don't really have an equivalent. I guess a smart Canid would do pretty well.

Well, human are stronger, more resilient and more clever than grots, I don't think we can compare both of them. Even Tau, small and lighter weighted with less muscles are above grots

I would say Ratlings are a better comparison for Grots rather than baseline humans.

A snotling would be the much more malicious equivalent of children for Orks.

U.k

Snots are small and playful and like excited puppies. No love of fighting as such. Just giddy and daft. Vs a human not much of a threat. 50 of them trained to stab you with sticks pretty nasty. Same number having been through a tunnel through the warp and berserk with terror materialising inside your vehicle or armour, or even you, really nasty.

Grotz are mean and nasty. One on one with a human they would scarper. End up in the hands of a few of them they would be horrible. Stats wise on the table top similar S and T to a human really. In the old days a stat of 3 was a trained soldier, so BS or S or T of 3 meant you were tough and pretty good. 4 was elite. 2s were what joe blogs off the street would be. So a battle hardened ( ) grot would tussle well with a average non military human.

See these quotes from waargh ORKS.

Orks aren’t necessarily hard to put down, so much as hard to keep down.

If a human loses an arm, we’re pretty stuffed without near immediate first. Limbs can be reattached, but without a medical background I can only speculate that rather depends on the type of injury.

Orks? Just staple it back on. Doesn’t even need to be their arm.

Their Toughness in the game feels more like a reflection that relative flesh wounds don’t slow them down. You need to do more serious damage.

Flesh wounds on a human won’t necessarily kill us, but it will take us out of the immediate fight. But ultimately both the Ork and the Human would survive.

Orks absolutely can be knocked out, but likely recover faster than humans.

A baseline human absolutely can take a baseline Ork one on one - they’re just less likely to win, unless they have some kind of combat training and weapons.

An Astartes however is just as tough as an Ork, if not tougher. They’re also more disciplined fighters and markedly stronger in terms of background. A punch is still going to stave in a rib cage or shatter a skull. That takes the Ork out the fight quicker - but still won’t necessarily kill the Ork outright. After all, we’re talking about a species where decapitation is more an inconvenience than a deathblow, provided there’s a Painboy around.
