The new Troupe datasheet got leaked, and it forces you to run 11 or more models to fun 4 or more fusion pistols per squad. This means that if you buy two boxes of Harlequins, you cannot run the special weapons you got in the box as a single squad, you have to buy more. GW has gone past "force you to run what's in the box" straight to "that's not good enough, we're going to restrict you."

It's honestly laughable, and the fact that it's only enforced on some factions makes it stupid.

I'm confused. Each box comes with 6 players, or you can build 1 as a troupe master.

If you buy 2 boxes, you build 1 as a troupe master, and 11 players, and you have your 11 model unit with 4 fusion pistols.

Or you just build all 12 as players.

Where is the issue?

They only have 5 non-troupe master torsos in the box.

This box contains everything you need to make a 6-man Harlequin Troupe armed with sword and shuriken pistol, including the option to include a Troupe Master. There are 6 sets of legs, all perched on outcrops of rock, with which to form the base of your miniatures. You have the choice of 7 different torso fronts and 5 torso backs, along with 3 extra backs sporting Harlequin jackets. You also get 6 swords of two distinct designs, 6 shuriken pistols, 6 harlequin’s kisses, 2 harlequin’s embraces, 2 harlequin’s caresses, 2 neuro disruptors and 2 fusion pistols. There is a power sword as well should you wish to upgrade your Troupe Master.

The underlined says it all...

Unless I'm not understanding what the meaning of words are.
6 players armed with Swords & Shuriken pistols, seems pretty clear to me.

Not actually accurate to the assembly instructions or pieces involved.

You know the Harlequin box is six models, right?

Only 6 players, however.

...And? Two boxes is twelve models and four fusion pistols, which is a legal squad.

Mmmm, meant 5 players. There's 5 players and a Troupe Master.

Look at the sprue again. Seven torsos, six legs.

(For the record I'm with you generally on being irritated about GW's approach to writing datasheets based on the kit instructions, but this specific complaint doesn't line up with the facts particularly well.)

There are not seven torsos on the sprue. There's only 5 torsos you can make without the troupe master one.

Take another look, just so we can end this tanget:
https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Harlequin-Troupe-Troop-2017

The troupe master torso is 24+25.
That same sprue also has 1 other torso front and back: 18+23
the next sprue has 2 fronts (16, 17) and 3 backs (20, 20 and 22)
the third sprue has 3 fronts (13, 14, 15) and 3 backs (19, 19 and 21)
1+2+3 = 6, plus the master torso (24+25) for a total of 7. (with a spare back half left over)

Not all of the fronts and backs match up, if you've assembled the sprue you'd know. There's only 5 complete torsos able to be made (besides the Troupe Master) from that sprue.

You're claiming they made multiple front bits that don't match to... anything? Even though there is an extra back piece? I'm kind of curious how that works.

I could easily believe 18 only goes with 23 (since they look wider at the waist), but 16 and 17 look like go with the 2 20s or 22, and 13-15 should fit with 19s or the 21.

You sure you just didn't fit one right?

Very sure. If you look at them, while they literally fit together, the lines on the torsos don't line up and it's very jarring. Like someone had the front of one outfit on and the back of another.

And no, everything matches to something, but they bottlenecked the number of front and back bits so that you can only make 5 torsos.
