Hey,

I recently bought an airbrush (sparmax-3) and having some issues. I feel as though I'm having to load the cup very frequently but not getting great coverage. I ended up just basecoating with a brush as it used less paint and was more opaque. I'm thinning citadel paints to a 'milk-like' consistency with airbrush thinner, and spraying at around 25 psi.

Is there something fundamentally wrong I'm doing? I've watched about every video out there on youtube, but it feels like the airbrush should give much better coverage and use less paint than it is...

Thanks!

What Citadel Color were you trying to airbrush over what Color primer ?

It was pink horror over a grey primer. Should I expect it always cover with one coat or does it usually take multiple coats?

You should be spraying it so finely that at first you barely see anything. Then after a few more layers the colour will build.

I can recommend the video below. My airbrush ability jumped massively after watching it.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I though pressure should be 30 to 50 psi with 40 being a sweetspot. 30ies is more for fine detail work like minis.
My reference for that info:
Spoiler:

Perhaps 25 is a bit low?

Also. He does 4 coats for maximum smoothness.

Hope this helps

Thanks so much! I think that was my misconception that it should cover first time similar to using a spray can.

I'll try experimenting with different pressures, I keep looking for a 'rule' rather than treating it like an art...
