I have always enjoyed it. You can get a lot of play out of the regular race scenarios but those are just the start. My favorite is a scenario we normally run at the local con that we based off of BattleTech grinders. In a large deathmatch arena each player starts with one vehicle at 30 cans. Each time they are destroyed they can come back with an additional 10 cans. Near the end of the night we have school buses full of pirates throwing molotovs at tanks while dodging 18-wheelers.
Also of note. While the scale is slightly off, both aeronauticia and gale force 9's world of tanks game are great for bits. Aeronatica wing bombs look good attached to car trunks as drop weapons.

You also need some tokens for this game like turn markers? What kind of guns are suitable to be glued on the vehicles?

All the tokens and templates you need can be downloaded here https://gaslands.com/downloads/ or you can find 3rd party ones for sale everywhere. You should also get some of the actual icon dice. It is just easier than using plain D6s.
As for guns, anything smaller than 28mm scale can work. Several of my vehicles use the guns off of Heavy Gear models. Random gun barrels can get turned into mortars easily.
If you have not actually read through the rules yet, then the weapons are pretty vague. A Bazooka, Death Ray, 125 MM Cannon, and Combat Laser could all be the same bit if you wanted it to be. And any random gun stuck to the top could be a heavy machine gun. This game runs a lot on 'looks cool'.

I have loved Gaslands since it came out. It is the only game in 25+ years that I felt the necessity to buy laser-engraved dice and acrylic templates for.
You can also get sets of 3D printed guns on Etsy.

What kind of setup do you use? A 2D-road like in Car Wars (Steve Jackson games) or a parcour like in this video game:

2D works the best, anything with hills becomes annoying with the movement templates. And since very few people base their cars you would run into problems of things rolling out place.

I superglue my wheels so the cars don't roll.

Hope it's OK to necro this thread!
So I went out to buy some paint and came back with the rulebook for this game, and a Hotwheels 1980s Ford Escort (£1.49!). I have since read it is the most fun you can have while wargaming, a tall claim but I look forward to testing it!
Does anyone have any projects on the go or anything they would like to show off?

My group jumped on the bandwagon along with half the global wargaming community that first summer when it came out. Mattel execs must have thought they were trippin balls that year.
Great game to be sure, tactical and cinematic in equal measure, ideal player count is 3-4 with two cars each. Above that the downtime will start to get to you.
