...but...

When I report a user (Hairesy) for using language "anti-white" in a post that is indicative of his going a smidge across the racism line...

and...

When I respond to said post indicating why I did so and linking to contextual materials (cf. white nationalist movements' use of the term as a credo) in case this was all some misunderstanding, giving ample space to back off from that position...

and then...

The moderation staff edits out the offending section, deletes my post and does nothing about the poor fellow merely decrying "anti-white" sentiment in today's media...

Then...

That tells me all we need to know about the allegiances of the crew running this shop, doesn't it?

Dakka, you have a problem.

Please, please, take some responsible action.

Does it? The comment was inappropriate, and so it was removed.

Your in-thread response was off-topic, and so was also removed.

This has nothing to do with our 'allegiances'. The job of Dakka's volunteer moderators is to keep the forum running more or less in the right direction. We have a process for removing posters who consistently cause problems and refuse to correct their behaviour, but booting anyone who shares an opinion we disagree with would be a massive overstep, even if that opinion happens to be ignorant and/or unpopular.

Well, at least you removed the offending part of Hairesy's post this time. When I reported posts of his in the Signatures poll thread for the dangerous anti-vaxx conspiracy propaganda they contained, you didn't even do that. The posts are still there, "blood clots and VAIDS" and all.

A little bit of righteous anger now and then is good, actually. Don't trust a person who never gets angry.

Thanks to whoever reported said post, it has been removed and dealt with.

OK, you got one of the posts I was referring to. The one about "nine pages of side-effects" (another debunked anti-vaxx conspiracy claim) a couple posts above that one is still there, though.

The bigger problem is that I did in fact use the little yellow triangle to report both posts back when they were originally posted and nothing was done at the time. Is it possible that the reporting system has a bug and doesn't always send the report to the mod team? IIRC, I sent both reports pretty quickly one after the other, so maybe I triggered some filter that's supposed to prevent people from spamming the report function?

In regards to the OP I don't see how the mods did anything wrong. Were they supposed to leave the explanation after getting rid of the offending post? I don't get it.

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

There's a strong case to be made for banning right wing extremists on sight from every public venue. Of course wargaming in particular would probably become an unsustainable market in that case.

Someone who brags about posters on their ignore list really shouldn't be giving advice on how to moderate a public forum....

As the definition of right wing extremist gets broadened to mean "person I disagree with" that may very well become true.

But political discussion is banned, I'd be happy enough if covid/vaccine/mandate discussion was banned too, it's basically just an extension of political discussion at this point and is IMO all too toxic for what is supposed to be a forum for discussing toy soldiers.

I'm sorry, but not surprised given your post history, that my suggestion to ban right wing extremeists makes you feel threatened.
