Just noticed that the Imperial Armour Compendium FAQ has been updated today (11/05/2022). Looks like Eldar & 'Nid stuff.

Stonecrusher Carnifexes got done dirty.
Eldar Shadow Spectres get given the CORE keyword in line with other aspect warriors
Eldar Wraithseer & Skathach Wraithknights get the -1D ability in line with other wraith constructs
Carnifex variants in the codex have both of these, but Stonecrushers received neither. Clearly their WS4+ is too powerful for any extra boosts!

Ah... this basically just changes for eldar and nids.
But at 6 pages of formatting issues, keyword monkeying and general gibberish, it might be time to redo the book and do it proper.

GW internal politics meaning they do as little as possible to support FW models? Even to the point of damaging sales for GW plc as a whole? Yeah, I can believe it.
And I wouldn't expect a new edition of the Compendium until 10th, unfortunately.

There are different rules teams though, and FW used to write their own rules for 40k units. That's not the case anymore (and hasn't been for a while), so now FW units get 40k rules form the 40k team. When they can be bothered. If they have time. If they can remember.

No, it has nothing to do with whether they're bothered, have the time, or remember. It's as Dysartes said: politics. The main gw studio is still so that fw made better models, and wrote better rules, and lore, throughout 6th and 7th that they want to make fw units as bland and lackluster as possible. Removed special rules, rarely given a balance pass, little to no cohesion with the rest of their respective codexes, and only given the least bit of attention when they do get it, usually months after the codex is released. And even rules to penalize you for using them, if your army has "Marines" in it's name.

Well the friendly Warhammer 40k Facebook page suggested I contact 40kFAQ@gwplc.com to let them know.
So I did just that, explaining that the Stonecrusher Carnifex:
1. Did not gain Core.
2. Did not gain Death Throes.
3. Didn't change to WS3+.
4. Didn't go up to 9 wounds.
5. Didn't get a 2+ Save.
6. Didn't gain the Armoured Exoskeleton rule.
7. Didn't gain the Blistering Assault rule.
8. Didn't gain any extra attacks when all the other 'Fexes did.
9. Doesn't have the Thornback keyword (or access to it) which it probably should...? Maybe?

I've not read the 'Nid 'dex myself, but I take it that 1-8 are standard for a Fex these days?

Totally reasonable, and I wish Nids players good luck in getting this fixed. But, almost two years after the Compendium released and for CSM:
1: Dreadclaws got their deployment rules fixed..... but they're still in the wrong FOC slot ( FA instead of Dedicated Transport)
2: Contemptors with paired melee weapons still get nothing, while every other unit that I can think of with that option gets some kind of bonus for it, and twin chainclaws cost extra.
3: Everything that has the MACHINE SPIRIT keyword for loyalists still lacks it for Chaos, and Death Guard has had their MACHINE SPIRIT strat for almost as long as the Compendium has been out, and all of those units are available to them. Same for Thousand Sons.
4: Still no clarification if the standard hull mounted heavy bolter is included in the base price for Sicarans. And this is just a question that needs clarification, not a rules change.
And that's just off the top of my head (and yes, I've written 40kFAQ@gwplc.com about all of these), and just CSM. Plenty of other stuff needs fixing for other factions. Gw just doesn't seem to want to keep fw units up to standard.

GW's maintenance of FW rules are an absolute joke. Given how poorly they've updated the Ork units (looking at you Nob Bikers, WB on Warbike and Kannonwagon not having the Wagon keyword), I'll imagine that this is one and done and will be forgotten until the next edition.

Stonecrusher Carnifex is now on LCTB.
That explains why it got no love in the FAQ. They literally don't give a gak about the models people already have. I doubt it'll even get the Legends treatment.

They could Legends it when the current Imperial Armor Compendium goes out of print. Or they can just say, proxy it for a Carnifex. Those rules are better than those for the SCC anyway

They don't care. Did the same for orks multiple times now. Nob bikers don't even have the nob keyword.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks do not think that purple makes them harder to see. They do think that camouflage does however, without knowing why.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |

They don't care much about the kits that they still sell either. At best, sometime after the parent codex is released, they'll update some keywords and rules so that they'll function in that codex, but they don't care if they're internally balanced with the units in the codex, or externally balanced with the current game. And sometimes they don't even get those relevant keywords and rules, as the various Ork players in this thread have pointed out about their fw units.

...you look at the Legends PDF for Imperial Armour, available for free here?
Note that some things may have vanished from sale, but not made it into the PDF yet - if they're in the Compendium, then they're still good to go.
This reminds me - I never did hear back after I sent them a list of things that need adding into Legends. Must do that again.

Stonecrusher is on last chance to buy, so I think the reason they didn't get an update is that they will likely get Legendsed pretty soon. Or quietly forgotten.
Either way, it's on its way out.

Dude they did take 3 months to realise that they made it so that R&H legends entries couldn't hold any objective at all and half the equipment is still missing on top of that.
They won't react realistically.
