Gross! Why would you want that when you can have glorious, actual cavalry, with magnificent mounts?
Because they just released some really cool looking bike things for Necromunda that'd fit really well into my one Guard force.
It's made up largely of squads of old Necromunda gang figures. And some new ones.

This is just crybaby whining. You know the context because you put it in your post. It's what comes in a specific box, because the worst thing anybody should have to do is buy multiple boxes to make one viable unit. The fact that you want this is absurd and smacks as some sort of contrarianism rather than an actual, honest criticism.
I think the word you're looking for there is optimal.

I'm leaning towards dakka platform.
Well depends on stats and points.
And what you expect to be shooting at.

I'm not worried about the scale creep of the new Cadians.
Even if the models were the same size, the infantry models won't be intermixed into any if my existing Guard forces. And any vehicles or the new field Artillery I do mix in will be re-crewed with Tallarns, Mordians, etc anyways.
And used on thier own? These nu-Cadian models will just represent a force raised on some planet where humans grow bigger.

My 1st thought was "Damn, now I'll have to find a really good commission painter to match this to my AoS Cities army. :("
{the guy who painted my Dogs of War WFB army, nowdays used as CoS, is long gone & I've already failed at matching his work}
Love the model. Have no intention of using it for 40k though. I'll probably buy two - one to get painted to match my AoS Cities force, & the 2nd to serve for an RPG character

One of the things that's very against type is that GW created a model that's so easy to proxy. I mean, it's literally a dude on a horse waving a sword. Call me paranoid, but I think some of the reasons we've been seeing GW play around with mechs and enormous sizes and other things is to make centerpiece models that are really tough to proxy.
A tough to substitute centerpiece model is fine. Afterall, I'll be saving plenty by finding alt models for most of the army that surrounds them....
And this guy-on-horse? He's in no way a centerpiece model for the Guard.

Voss wrote: AtoMaki wrote:Voss wrote:The entire design philosophy of the faction and the game is out to lunch.
To be entirely honest here I do feel like that design philosophy is undergoing a change, at least as far as the faction is concerned: we are getting a kind of "Primaris Guard" with this new Aspect Warrior unit setup but where Primaris Marines initially tried to touch into tacticool, the Primaris Guard is trying to bring back the RT-era weirdness with a super-heavy WW2 (/Western Allies) tone for the historical crowd. In that regard, the Lord Solar is kind of fitting.
Well, that would be fine, but he doesn't fit the new guard design either. That's the weirdest part. He looks about 100 years too early to match the WW2 style tank.
Like her or not, the Ursula Creed model does- she has matching design cues.
But this guy looks like he stepped out of the Guard regimental art from 1990, or fits in with these guys:

Why are you obsessed with him not matching the Cadians style wise? He's NOT a Cadian. Just like he's not a Catachan, a Krieg, a Tallarn, Scion, etc. The old Solar on foot wasn't any of those things either.

It´s not stupidity but greed. Scale creep has been implemented to nudge hobbyists into burning their vintage Cadians and jump onto the hype train to buy the new Cadia box.
I'm sorry but why would collectors of models that are representing regular humans who would be different heights go and burn their other models?
It might be worth asking the Dark Eldar player who burnt his models and placed the video on Youtube as to what can drive someone to do that.
I'm not sure what asking a clown for clarity would provide me.
Well, if the stuff he burnt were the original 3e sculpts, then nothing much was lost while everyone else got a good laugh.

Well, on my end the primary answer is Votann. I've spent the bulk of November & December's "hobby budget" already..
Other than that? I have 10s of thousands of pts worth of Guard already. All I really need from this release is a Codex, 3 Dorn, 2 Lord Solar, 1 squad of Rough Riders, & a bunch of those new arty pieces. This list will get spread out over 2023.

It's.... Almost like these are two separate products. Designed with different goals in mind.
One is your standard issue Codex revamp to the current edition. Designed for regular daily/tourney use. The thing you've all been screaming for since July of 2020.
The other? Is end-of-the-edition filler garbage designed to part the marks from their cash one last time. If you can have some fun with it? More power to you.
