How do!
Random one I’m afraid. But I’m watching Gremlins for the umpteenth time, and again I’m reminded of the very roots of 40K.
Never mind if they’re a rip off or not. If my hypothesis is correct (tiny, numerous, malevolent, amusing in their violence), we can reasonably upscale the Gremlin approach to life to full grown Orks.
We even see much the same hierarchy. Stripe is Boss, and he’s not afraid of using a bit of muscle to maintain his position.
It also strongly demonstrates what makes Orks so successful. They just…..don’t at all even remotely priories things the way humanity does. As long as there’s a shot at anarchy, chaos (note the little c) and some kind of punch up? They’re happy. And because their entire species is up for anarchy, chaos and some kind of punch up all of the time? They’re far, far more United than most, even if their unity is inherently anarchic?
Even the bar scene in Gemlins? They’re getting their jollies. So mostly leave the barmaid to do her job, until it’s fun to menace her. Which is kind of the Orky approach. Granted less of the “but we can work 24 hours, why can’t you?” incomprehension. But still kind of the same.
