Good Morning,
I have a few units that I finished not long ago and I used sanded dry pastels to make my own pigment powder....because I'm cheap and this hobby can be expensive so I have to save where I can! Anyway, I want to make a few small changes now that I've read up more on unit markings lore wise. My first thought was to just rinse the models under water to remove the powder. Do you think that will work alright or am I overlooking anything? The models are sealed with a matte varnish from an airbrush so I'm thinking as long as there is no scrubbing the existing paint should be unharmed and I didn't use any sort of fixing agent on the powder. Simply rub it on sand paper until I have enough powder then I brush it on with a dry brush.

Running under water should be fine, especially with the sealer coat over the paint. Another thing to consider is that powder is literally dust, so a clean brush, a vacuum cleaner or a compressed air duster thingy would also probably be quite effective.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Get a soft brush and some water rather than running them under the tap.
