I've been soloing using Stormcast Eternals and Wraiths Orcs and all sorts of Space Marines as different sides in different games ranging from Space Hulk through the various Space Marine Adventures games. Do any of you enjoy doing that?

Absolutely! Especially in the old days when the miniatures you got with board games were quite crummy. When 1st ed space Hulk came out remember even at the time those plastic terminators weren't great so we subbed in some metal power armour beakies.

For Blood Bowl there were obviously so many years when the game wasnt officially supported and the price of 2nd hand teams went through the roof. Then a whole cottage industry built up around making 'fantasy football' teams and accessories so I would say most of my collection now is from various Spanish companies that seem to make most of them. Same with Epic, I would say 'official' minis are < a third of my collection, partly because of the price of originals but also some of the proxy and 3d print minis available now are a step forward in quality.

Have also done a few with games like Zombicide or Descent, but as said generally the quality of the minis in boardgames has got so much better in recent years there isnt the pressing need to do so.

I don't do alot of miniature swapping with board games, but when we play Heroquest, my family often pulls painted minis from my collection to represent their heroes. I also swapped in some micro machines vehicles and figures for RISK Star Wars Edition (a fantastic game which isn't really a RISK game, but I digress...).

I do agree that the quality of minis in boardgames has been so good for quite a number of years now that I usually don't feel the need. Looking at my game shelf, the minis in imperial Assault, Heroquest, Mice and Mystics are so good, the only issue is finding time to paint them and then maybe play them with tabletop wargaming rules too.

Heck, going back further, Battlemasters figures are every bit as good as the GW plastic line troops of the time (many still serve in my KoW army) and games like Ravenloft have darn good figs as well.
