Subject: Bruva Alfabusa's team talks about the future of the channel.
So they're still going on about the whole "GW are stopping fan animations! They've changed their policy so you're not allowed anymore!" thing even though GW did not change what their rules allowed.

B) you are making it sound like it is the whole point of the video.
No, they didn't. The policy towards fan content already said that sort of thing wasn't allowed and it had been that way since at least 2014. The wording was changed to shorten things, but what it allowed or didn't allow did not change.

And, more importantly, parody is explicitly permitted under fair use exceptions. GW did not take any action against TTS, probably because GW's lawyers also understand how fair use works. Blaming "GW policy" is nothing more than a creator who was tired of working on the same project looking for a way to move on to new things without having to deal with the entitled fanboys raging about not getting new content.

It is worth noting that UK copyright law didn't have a parody exemption until the end of 2014 when GW drafted their policy, and it is *very* limited compared to popular interpretation of the US one.
Still, I agree with the general point that they just didn't want to do it any more and used this as an excuse.

Even then, it isn't as simple at all as "It's a parody!" where then they can do what they want with it - a parody can still be infringement, it has to be determined one a case by case basis.

What made the humor work for me was the contrast between the silly against the 40k setting it was grounded in. Once the 40k setting was stripped the silly humor started to fall really flat for me. Jokes that were once hilarious parodies of characters made sooper-serious to an almost comedic level just felt like drug-induced ramblings without the 40k background.
B) you are making it sound like it is the whole point of the video.
What you could do before you still can. What you couldn't you still can't.
Where's the change?
If this is an honest question, at the time there was change in GW's attempts to protect their IP more stringently.
As the plan for Warhammer+ requires customer to subscribe for content there was a push to enforce their interpretation of the laws.
Bruva A mentioned that they believed they were covered by the fair use, but if GW pushed the issue the channel would fold due to not having the same resources and having their entire revenue stream shut down during the challenge.
Rather than risk this realistic outcome they took the signs of other content creators folding and stopping as auguries and decided to protect themselves by diversifying their inspirations.
So to review, the change was that GW started to enforce their interpretation of the law to help support their W+ product and had managed to convince a few other content creators to shut up shop over a period of time.
Bruva A did not wish to be the martyr challenging the intentionally litigious big guy with deep pockets so made a change to protect his channel and employees/contractors.
Glory is fleeting. Obscurity is forever.

Bruva gave in to baseless Internet hysteria. Far too many folks with strong opinions and zero legal expertise weighed in on the matter in community echo chambers, and this was the end result. Anyone with a shred of understanding on how the legal system actually works would know he was at no risk of facing any legal costs. If you need proof of that; Arch was asked to stop calling himself Arch Warhammer via a GW legal letter. He still makes his "content" without the trademarked name, and didn't need to shut down the channel or pay for any legal expenses.
It's hard to tell how much Bruva actually believed the doom and gloom or how much this was just an excuse for a break, but many other Warhammer-related content creators are still making things to this day without changing what they were doing.
The most notable event related to the whole IP drama wasn't actuallly GW shutting down any channels. It was Sodaz, who agreed to start making his animation material for GW. Then he recieved so much merciless harassment and abuse from "fans" for the decision that he quit the community entirely.

Just how is discussing the situation talked about in this video "off-topic"?
And for some reason you've not even acknowledged being shown that their IP guidelines didn't actually change what they allowed, even though you said "they did".

"GW shut down all the fan content" is probably the most irritatingly hyperbolic statement that gets repeated as truth across various places. You ask them to provide evidence and their first thing is "Astartes and TTS", the former was hired the latter used it as a scapegoat and that's the end of the story.
I've never seen anyone able to actually verify a single content creator who was taken down by GW, what we can point out is a content creator who revoked a job from GW due to their loyal loving community trolling and throwing shade on them for accepting a job.

I kind of liked that one, although it got worse the longer it went on.. Felt like the authors got too serious/ambitious about it and forgot what was originally good about it. I don't want forgettable fanfic, I want them taking the piss of the IP South Park style
"The larger point though, is that as players, we have more control over what the game looks and feels like than most of us are willing to use in order to solve our own problems"

I mean, the situation actually discussed in the video are first and foremost production costs and projects.
Like, as i said before: that is not the point of the video, and it is a disservice to the topics they cover.
You titled the thread. "Bruva Alfabusa's team talks about the future of "If the emperor had a text to speech device", now you're claiming we shouldn't be talking about the part relevant to Warhammer, the thing most people know him for, on a forum mainly focused on Warhammer.
And yet again you're just entirely ignoring that your claim that "they did" change the rules was shown wrong.

I recommend that you read the post itself. I am sorry you can't understand people can make jokes (as is covered in the opening post!) or the fact that you yourself stated that they did change the rules.

Go on then, quote where I "stated that they did change the rules."

Like, wording is actually pretty big in law and whatnot. If wording wasn't relevant, you'd not have rules arguments and the like, either. I don't want to get hung over this because frankly, this is a pretty sterile debate but:
A) Yes, the rules were changed. It doesn't matter if the change affected the content of said rules, if it was only 'skin deep'. The rules did *change*.
B) This change was perceived as potentially harmful for the team. It doesn't matter if the change is real, if it is only 'skin deep'. The perception remains the *same*.
C) People are risk averse, specially when the risk also affects other people. It doesn't matter if the risk is real, the aversion remains the *same*.
D) As a result of A), B) and C), they are not planning on covering warhammer for the time being.
And surprisingly, this has little to do with the video at large. The reason I posted the video was, because the are throwing up an update on production output, production costs and project overviews.
Hunter the parenting is a pretty solid, fairly fun web series. It frankly deserves publicity. The half-life mini series they are doing now is pretty funny, specially considering the 1st and only episode has consisted of just two guys talking about drinking water and stuff that isn't water.
I am changing the title, just for safety.

Have you even bothered to read the guidelines? It comes across as if you haven't because you'd see that what both now and back then, these animations weren't something they said was ok.
What I originally said was "GW did not change what their rules allowed." You then claimed "they did", and now you've gone from claiming what the rules allowed has changed, to trying to make out that it doesn't matter if the actual content of the rules was changed. What the rules do and do not allow is the same as it was back in 2014. That the specific wording is different does not change that they cover the same things.

The wording of the policy has changed. What the policy does and does not allow has not. If you were referring to just the wording changing initially, you wouldn't have ignored everything saying the actual content of the rules hasn't changed and then claimed that doesn't matter.
