How do!

Built my Sicaran last night, and it’s lovely when it’s assembled. But in the process of building it, two things became apparent.

1. The Variants must be coming to plastic. The track, hull and turret assemblies form separate sprues entirely. So even the Venator can be made by switching out two sprues. I look forward to this.

2. The track sprue. It….has excess track pieces. All smaller 1 or 3 link piecies. Yet spare all the same.

Having built the other Heresy Chassis, barring the Landraider Proteus, none of them come with excess track bits. Which has got me wondering, which other tanks might be lined up for using the Sicaran track sprue? Which it is called, as you can see it on the sprue.

They’re too skinny for the Super Heavies, and to be honest I don’t think the extra links would be enough to cover a super heavy anyway. So the only tank chassis I can think of that might use that sprue as well, is the Arquitor chassis.

What do you reckon?

You are right, variants are undoubtedly coming. And if there are spare track links, that must mean a variant using this excess bits is also coming. Looking at the Arquitor, it's not too big of a stretch to think some of the same sprues couldn't be used for it as well.

Nice find!

how many spare bits? even number presumably?

I did see a review of the thing that noted turning the chassis around with a few tweaks and it became the artillery thingy so may well be part of that

seems to be something GW are pretty good at these days and I'd suspect all the CAD work for every version of that thing or using bits of it has been completed even if the tooling hasn't been done yet

It must be an even number. Given the Arquitor seems to have identical track links on the resin models - though I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in person, so happy to be proven wrong - I think it’s the likely culprit, given the excess links are small ones.

I wouldn’t say no to some Arquitor. Also/Or it’s for the Sabre Chassis - one I erroneously always think of as an Arquitor variant, when it’s really not!

Tanks, good or bad in the game, are generally good models to have and look at, so the easier they are for GW to crank out the better

Except the Kratos a friend of mine has, that thing is evil

Could be for Sabres as well I suppose, I always mix up the two anyway... They look very similar

I’ve asked a friend who owns a lot of Heresy goodies if he reckons they might also be usable for the Sabre.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Not for the Sabre it would seem, as I’m reliably informed their tracks are more Rhino scaled, so noticeably slimmer than the Sicaran.

Arquitor for sure, it's pretty much just a Sicaran hull driving backwards?

I guess so!

Also worth noting that so far as I can see, the Sicaran is the only Heresy kit where the treads come as a separate sprue, let alone with excess linkage.

Now to consider if Arquitors interest me at all.

Are there 40K rules for Arquitors?

keep in mind a plastic version of "x" may be different to the resin version of "x", e.g. wider/narrower components etc to fit manufacturing

they will just call it a different pattern
