If pre Chaos Horus and a 40k Abbadon went at it, who would win? I'm going to give it to Abbadon, as being Chaos boosted brings him on par statwise with Horus, but his Sword is nastier that Horus's Mace. Othat than that they are pretty similar.

Given the track record for Primarchs, I'd say that Horus would still have a pretty good chance of winning. Drachn'yen I would say is Abbadon's main trump card due to its power, and the blessings of the 4 chaos gods make Abbadon strong, but I wouldn't really say quite Primarch level strong, and given that Horus is considered one of the upper tier Primarchs in combat, I would say that he would win. Also, narratively speaking, it seems like highlander with Primarchs to be honest, as barring Curze, who basically commited suicide by Callidus, and Vulkan, who also basically kamikazed the Prime-Ork into a WAAAGH! generator, all Primarchs who have documented deaths died by another Primarch's hands.

Horus still has his lightning claw and Abby does not. Also Abby would have issues fighting a real Horus given that loss is a lot of what makes him so unstable.

I doubt Abbaddon would be anywhere near in capability to Horus, still.

I think he'd be close but no cigar. In the first place he was Giant even for a Space Marine before hand, he's now imbued with Ruinous Powers, and he's got thousands of years of experience even Horus didn't have. And we can look at Luther vs the Lion. Luther wasn't even technically a Space Marine. Too old to begin the training was he. And he still held his own. Until a flash of rationality showed Luther what he had done, and caused him to "hiccup" in the fight. A lot of similarities you can draw from there to Abby vs Real Horus.

To be fair, we haven't been shown what the final fight between Luther and the Lion looks like yet in the HH/Scouring novel series, so they may change up some things, but it's at least at this point heavily implied that Luther uses a lot of warp trickery in his fight against the Lion, which isn't quite the same as Abbadon being in a straight up fight with Horus, just like how Kor Phaeron incapacitated Guilliman using sorcery.

And as mentioned Luther wasn't a "real" Space Marine - vs Luther used Psychics, and Watchers in the Dark can Nullify Psychics. I still think it's as close as we're going to find in Primarch vs Favored "son".
