... hey Torquemada, whadda you say, how about a little auto-da-fé?
On a completely unrelated note, did you hear that Hulu is now actually doing 'History of the World - Part 2' after 40 years? It will premiere on March 6, be an eight-parter and have 2 parts released every day for that one week. I'm sure it will not live up to the original, but then it's Mel Brooks, it can't be bad-bad.

I don’t think you can, as the Rogue Trader inexplicably has a rule that prevents them acting as a HQ for such a detachment.

Nothing inexplicable about it, this is a minimum-effort update like the legends rules and GW just didn't bother to fix all of the errors and leftovers from previous versions.

They are Agent of the Imperium, you can add one assassin per detachment without taking any unit slots.

It's about what as low effort as I expected (updated my rear, nothing's changed), but I'm glad we still exist.
Couldn't even bother to give the Daemonhost a Daemon save Huh? Oh well. At least Monke-spam is still halfway decent in boarding patrols. Not a lot that can bring an S8 Ap3 3D on a 4+ WS 3W 20pt platform, and not a lot that can survive it. not to mention handing out free rerolls to hit, wound, or both.
I do appreciate the keyword move as well, as that means you can finally weld them together into one entity, especially now that Breachers and Voidsmen give you an actual troops choice. Even if they can't be compulsory troops because we can't have nice things, can we?

They're not troops in an agents of the imperium detachment annoyingly. Or rather can't be compulsory.

Except Breachers and Voidsmen can only fill troop slots in Navis Imperialis detachment... Which isn't something you can actually form as far as I can see.
It's a mess.

It is not completely low effort. Acolytes now have the agent of the imperium keyword so now they can show up with the inquisitor.
Also, in the arks of omen boarding action rules there are rules that make the acolytes troops.

As someone who has accumulated a fair few Agents models through KT and other bits and bobs I was quite excited to see them all together with coherent rules. Until I read said rules.
Despite finally having a troops choice they can't be troops for army building. Except when they can be troops but in that case they can't have a HQ. It's madness. They have a really nice narrative going at least with the ship's crew models that could make a wonderful thematic Boarding Operations force, but no. I understand these models don't sell well enough to make them worth a lot of effort but surely basic effort at least, otherwise why bother selling them?
At least they noticed Inquisitors technically had no legal rules I guess.

That would make it more than zero effort. When the best thing to say about the update is that it got a single keyword right it's a textbook example of a minimum-effort joke by GW.

Mostly Kill Team and the 40k board games, which is where they originally came from. Adding 40k pseudo-rules is just a lazy attempt to get 40k players to buy them.

Thanks for the rules! These are mainly for AoO and for players like me who could care less about battleforged armies, but I appreciate getting them for free.
Now my Navy Breachers and Starstriders can also be used in 40K and not just in Kill Team. Already coming up with an AoO mission for these for our upcoming 40K campaign. I will need one Valkyrie though for the other half of the mission (plan is to make a 2 part mission, one part in AoO and one a combat patrol game)

Both of them already had 40k rules. All this "update" did was combine them into a single pdf without bothering to fix the rule issues they had. Automatically Appended Next Post: Dudeface wrote:Don't need troops in AoO don't forget, just use elites as the compulsory.
Rogue traders/navy don't have elites, only troops (which can't be compulsory without the HQ) and HQ (which can't be a compulsory slot). You'd have to take some questionably thematic inquisition or assassin stuff to fill those mandatory slots. Which is absurd because it's clearly supposed to be possible to do the all-navy detachment, GW was just lazy and didn't bother to correct the issue where the rogue trader can't be a compulsory HQ.

Have GW said where the Arbites rules for 40k will appear? I know they've mentioned two unit choices, but not where the rules will be printed. Perhaps this PDF might see an update?
If so, it might be worth people contacting them - politely - to see if someone can make a couple of tweaks to the other units in the PDF to make a legal AotI detachment a reality.
And maybe, y'know, giving them some Dedicated Transport options for such a detachment, even if it is just "Use the Chimera/Valkyrie/Rhino datasheet, replacing the WHICHEVER keyword with the AGENTS OF THE IMPERIUM keyword where applicable"

That's true but I was replying in the context of a "agents of the imperium" detachment so just sub in the Rogue Trader as an inquisitor.
