we have a new army in the group and they are custodes.
i have many army's to pick from to fight them.

My lov did wel in small battles but not in an 1850 points game.

what army do i need to counter the custodes.

Elite army's? grey knights, deathwatch, spacemarines, chaos marines?

Swarm army's? orks, tyranids, imperial gaurd? genestealer cult?

Other army's, eldar, darkeldar, tau, necrons?

the problem with them are, the very high ap guns they have and they are very good in closecombat to.
so if he schoots me i have no save at all or max a 6+ save, and in cc is even worst no save for my little guy's.

full compagny of bloodangels, 5000 pnt of epic bloodangels
5000 pnt imperial guard
5000 pnt orks
2500 pnt grey knights
5000 pnt gsc
5000 pnts Chaos legionars
4000 pnt tyranids
4000 pnt Tau

Some more info needed on what his army contains.

LoV shouldn't have too much trouble against them, they have a large amount of high-AP, multi-damage weapons. However you could also consider focusing more on objectives than trying to just kill as much of his stuff as possible.

1 unit of 6 terminators, he did spilt those up into 1 man units

You can play the mission but cannot ignore the bikes forever. Custodes bikes need to play agressive and that means you need a great counterpunch to make them pay if the come too close. Maybe you could go full bloodangels jumppack armylist?

A few general thing that are good VS custode (Note: I play custodes).

Str 5/6 weapons with AP-1/2

Any more is a waste so getting lots of shots at that kind of profile is great - assault cannons, shuriken cannons and the like are pretty efficient.

Anything with 3 flat damage, thunder hammers or Helverin autocannons are perfect.

Anything with damage reduction - custodes mainly deal a flat 2 damage, especially in combat, so dreads or deathguard with -1 damage are very good against them.

Custodes put out lots of quality attacks so invuln saves and transhuman/hitsman effects are powerful against them.

40,000pts
8,000pts
3,000pts
3,000pts
6,000pts
2,000pts
1,000pts
:deathwatch: 3,000pts
:Imperial Knights: 2,000pts
:Custodes: 4,000pts

Yeah I was thinking about times I've been outplayed when using custodes across the last couple of editions, it usually boils down to opponents who are clever enough with positioning that they will feed you something and set up a counter-charging unit ready to pounce once you take the bait or are forced into a charge. The worst thing you can do vs custodes is plant your expensive units on objectives and expect to hold them.

I don't know if you've played this game much, but LoV are quite good at punching Our Golden Shinies in the mouth. It's not that hard. Massed shooting, and their ignore invulns or MWs on basic weapons wreck our stuff pretty hard.

Not keen on the premise; you're looking for an army specifically to beat custodes? Better to look at general tactics and think about how any army could beat them. Then you won't have to be stuck tailoring one army against them every time you face them. It's also just not true that one of their strengths is 'very high AP guns'. The highest AP gun they have is melta rockets on the bikes, which is 1 24" AP -4 shot per 80-ish points. I'm pretty sure every other army has access to far far more AP -4 shooting than that, you can't read any other codex without literally tripping over it. Most other guns they have are AP -1.

In combat they generally have AP -3, with some units having AP -2. If they're fighting 'little guys' then surely you expect these to die vs combat specialists whether they're up against AP -1, -2, or -3. Note also that while the whole army is *good* in combat, I think every other army has access to at least 1 unit that's better in combat, except maybe Tau.

depends...I play thousand sons and I don't mind charging custodus bikes when I got -1 to hit, 4+ inv and -1 damage (stratagem) on my 10 terminators. But after that I need to punish them with everything I got. Removing inv save also helps in that case.

Most factions have a specific ability or unit that really rakes Goldies over the coals. Usually it's some form of AT weapon, such as heavy tank shooting, or melta weapons.

That stratagem only works vs shooting
