So, today I went to a new store and got a brand new Chaos Rhino. A classic in the 40k universe, but I see it has a few loadout options like a havoc missile launcher, a combi-bolter, a ccombi melta, and a flamer. I don't expect it to see much combat, but to put it to the best use I I am running Word Bearers and I have a lot of melee legionnaires I want deployed. What will fit that role? I want to deploy it and hopefully get it to block los and maybe even get into melee if need be. However, what would be best for it's loadout?

Given that the upgrades are all free, the best load out will always be to bolt as much onto it as possible; so Havoc and combi- plasma/melta.

Maybe 10th edition will restore some sanity? But maybe not.

Try to put all the weapon upgrades on the top hatches and then don't glue them in.

Then if 10th does retore points to upgrades you can run them without the hatches.

And you can add the hatches back on in late 10th when they do the same old cycle of free weapons for Marines.

As has been said, 1st build your weapons to be removable/interchangeable.
Magnets work well for this.
As does simply bitz ordering via eBay etc.

Next up? Whatever you envision the rhino doing, add that Havoc Launcher.
It's free atm & there's never a time when having more dakka available is the wrong answer.....
Later on, if it should cost more pts than you want to spend? No problem as you've followed our advice & modeled it to be removable.

As for what type of combi-weapon is best?
Only you can determine that.
•do you want more dakka for plinking away at infantry? Pick the combi-bolter or flamer.
•do you think you'll need the extra ap of plasma?
•Or pick the melta & see if you can go vehicle hunting.
Wich you should take really depends upon what opponents you expect to play.

Auxiliary melta-gun can be an unpleasant surprise.

No idea what the points cost is, but right place, right time, it can be a nasty sting, potentially popping the last wounds off of something juicy, and thus punching well above its weight.

And don’t underestimate the benefit of using cheapo transports as rolling LoS blockers.

That's easy. 0.

Blocking LOS is bit tricky though. Does the tracks have solid end? Front to back it won't block LOS for sure. Sideways maybe if the tracks are solid.

edit: Assuming pic's on GW site are accurate they have holes so nope. Rhino won't block LOS unless you house rule things.
