The most advanced marine is the one on the left.

mmmm nice and brightly oranged!

Gitsplitta wrote:@Ramos: I'm not sure if this is what Ice is shooting for... but that "black lining" technique is very indicative of the way GW painters went about their business back when the Badab War first made it's appearance in WD. While it may not be the most sophisticated painting approach, it does make them look more like they come from that era. Just a thought...

Ah is that so? Interesting. Id never thought of that. The most i really know of "old school" gw painting styles is green bases

Okay. Today I added the next layer of orange. I added the first high light. I also started working on some other bits. Started adding some blue onto his purity seal and added some blues to his eyes. Highlighted the aquila on his chest. Painted the helm several layers of gray and added on a thick wash of mud to give it that dirty feel.

Still need to add the final high lights around the model. He needs his stripes and of course some junk on his base. Other then that I think he is almost completed. Thoughts or suggestions?

Very nice work Ice. That's shaping up to be an excellent paint job. Orange and blue always look so good together...

Thanks guys! I managed to get a few other things done before company started arriving. Added brown onto all of the arms that are unattached and I brown another marine. Only one more marine to add brown too and then I can do some mass oranging. If I forget to mention it tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving!

Pictures will arrive most likely on Friday if I can get around to it.

Okay, I admit I'm a few days behind in posting my pictures. I blame Halo 4, X-Com, and Strikefleet Omega for the delay. DAMN MY NEED FOR GAMING!

Here is an update of where I'm at. The guy on the left is oranged up to where I want, he just needs the fine details and a bit of cleaning. The second guy has one round of orange put on him. The other three have only the level 1 brown on them. I also started on the arms and the back packs. The arms actually have the first level of orange on them as well. There is still much to be done!

Music played while this post was created. (Charles Mingus, Leon Parker, Herbie Hancock, and Cypress Hill)

Yes, because I included the time it took me to take the pictures, upload the pictures, and complete the post.

Thanks yellowbeard.

Solar, I do not but I'm thinking about doing so on my tiger claws.

Cormadepanda, I know...... but its tough when my wife demands I play halo 4 with her so she can take out her job frustrations on random online strangers. That and its hilarious!

Here is an updated picture of my team mates Executioner Scouts. He still has to finish their bases and determine what he needs to do with the cloaks. He is very undecided at this time about how to paint them.

As for myself I did some painting today but I failed to take any pictures. I know, I'm a slacker. I should turn around and take some but its late and I'm tired. I did manage to paint up some more orange levels and do some random things, like eyes and lenses. I worked on one of the missile launcher back packs. It wasn't terribly productive but I'm slowly getting there. OH, I did get to the point where I could attach one of the missile launchers onto the marine, so two of the five are ready for stripes. Three to go!

Very cool. Did he GS the hoods himself?

The hoods are from a German website. He did minimal GS to make them work. I'll have to have them brought back over to take a closer shot. Unfortunately the close ups I took got washed out.

Solar, they do have a redemptionist feel to them.

Any one have any suggestions on what color he should paint the cloaks?

Hmmmmm Perhaps some sort of urban camo? A color to stand out from the (excellent) camo, yet still fit the scheme.
I can see them being like a mottled gray color.

Here is another update, with pictures from my new camera! Fancy, I know. You can see the orange is coming together nicely. Two of them still need some final high lights. As I look at my pictures I do notice lots of little things that I need to touch up. After I work on the orange for the final guy I'll probably tackle the stripes and chapter badge.

I think I need to scour the internet for a good missile launcher photo. They are the one heavy weapon I am never 100% happy with when I paint. I'm not sure what it is but I think I need to try something else. As you can see in my photos I have hardly done anything except for a light dry brushing.

I had the same problem with the plainness of the ML.

I painted checkers in the main body to break up the look. You could paint your the main orange color to tie them in.
