Well, the move is pretty much underway. I've got the majority of my non-furniture stuff packed away in storage, which means damn near all of my miniatures. On top of that, I'm house sitting. Again. I made sure to bring my paints and tools with me though. I managed to also bring some 40k figures I never got around to actually doing anything with, a box of Infinity knights, my Toughest Girls troops, and Bones II. A few orders I'd made prior to the move have also shown up, which include two Fusiliers and an Akali hacker. Friday I'm supposed to be getting a squad of Terminators. So, I'll at least have some things to paint while I'm stuck here.
In order to keep myself from getting rusty, I've started work on several figures. Only two are close to being done though. Tonight, I worked on a Warp Talon and a Space Marine Scout sniper. Still some work to be done on both of them, but the Scout is pretty much done, aside from a bit of work on his gun and painting his base.
The Warp Talon still needs his eyes, claws, base, and intakes painted. I've got another Warp Talon on the table along with three other snipers (though, two need bases).

Warp talon looks pretty cool. Scout looks like he belongs in a meme poster... Can't think of which one but there's something about that pose...

Believe me, I have some weird stuff. Problem is, nearly all of it is packed away in storage.
I did get some normal stuff over the weekend though. My Terminators arrived (finished two of them), bought some Sanctioned Psykers and some Wolves of Orboros, and finished a second Scout Marine. Today I'm supposed to get some Pig Iron guys. Should be fun. Pics of finished stuff to come later tonight. Automatically Appended Next Post: Okay, the promised pictures.
Here's the two Terminators I've completed so far.
I tried to remove some of the extraneous details from some of the Terminators, like the bag ass bling on the power fists and I actually managed to remove one of the purity seals. Like with my other olive drab Marines, I want them to look more military and less space knight. I've added some accessory bits from the Scout Sniper sprue, so they'd have a bit more gear on them. They all go ta little something.
Here's the other Scout Sniper and his buddy, all finished up.
Finally, the majority of tonight's hobby time was spent working on a trio of PanOceania conversions.
These guys wound up doing a three-way arm swap. The Akali Hacker received the Fusilier Sniper's arms, the Fusilier Grenadier got the Akali's arms, and the Fusilier Sniper got the Grenadier's arms. So, I get a couple new poses out of the older (but still good looking) Fusiliers, letting me bulk up their numbers and I get an Akali sniper out of it. Though, I think that profile may've been removed with 3rd edition.

Figured I would post an updated pic of the Akali Sniper. After getting home, I figured I'd do a little more work on converting him. I wanted to bring him more in-line with the updated Akali design, which mean adding the boosters to his jump pack. I figure since he's using older gear anyway, it wouldn't be that big of a deal if his jump pack looked different as well. Obviously the bits I used for it came from a Space Marine backpack, but I think they'll work out okay once I have him painted up. Obviously it's a bit hard to tell, but I had to do some sculpting on this guy, and the Fusilier Sniper in order for their conversions to work. Unfortunately, when I was planning these conversions out, I didn't know that the sniper's arms weren't compatible with the running guy and the Akali. So, I wound up having to cut apart the running guy's arms to fit onto the sniper's body and there was a HUGE gap to fill on both the sniper and the Akali. Basically, I wound up having to resculpt both figures' right arms. I think I actually managed to pull that off quite well.

I thought they were just big archaic power sources, like backpack sized power plants to run the power armor. As far as I know the only jump jetting belongs to the jump packs with hugemongous thrusters. But I'm not a fluff phile .

I really like what you've done with that Akali Sniper. I'm not an Infinity guy, so I wouldn't know what you've done besides add the SM parts, but it looks very nice. I like your military looking Marines - especially the scouts - it never ever made any kind of sense to me the way that they were always painted as being dressed like apprentice clowns. I'll have to photograph and share my Dark Angels scouts now that you've got me worked up about them. Probably tomorrow.

Well, here's what the Akali looked like originally. Those arms are now on the running Fusilier though and I've bent the fingers on the hand to be pointing rather than doing... whatever it was he was doing. And yes, AzazelX, post those Scouts. Automatically Appended Next Post: Unfortunately, this is just going to get added to my previous post rather than be made into a new one. But, I finished the Akali. I'd post a pic, but every one I took looked terrible, like it was my first time painting a mini. I don't know why they turned out so bad since it actually looks decent in person. So, no pics until I get him dipped, I guess. I also finished this figure I picked up over the weekend. These guys are kind of hard to paint. They've got a surprising amount of tiny sculpted details on them. I'm glad I don't have to do a whole unit of them. The pics make his armor look sort of purple, but it's actually blue.

I feel your pain on painting that Oroboros' details. When I did the Warpborn Alpha, who's even bigger and wearing even more armor, it took me forever to suck it up and get him done. Doing all those stupid details was infuriating. I think I ended up doing mine in turquoise as opposed to blue or green.
Come to think of it, I'm really surprised you don't have any Warpborns. They'd go well with your other wolves.
Of course if you want to swap for some Skorza, I've got a unit of skinwalkers I haven't gotten around to painting...
You know what's scary? I might go grab me some 40k stuff today if I don't have any meetings after school...

I seem to be on a bit of a 40k kick of late. Here's the trio of Sanctioned Psykers I picked up last weekend.
Now, this next one is a test figure. I've got a box of Dark Eldar Kabalites I've had for a good long while. I'd painted two of them sometime back in a nice deep, dark blue scheme with some Tron-esque highlighting. I'd wanted to do them all like that, but for the life of me, I have no clue how I did that scheme in the first place. So, I've decided I'll try doing the rest in a different scheme and I'll just buy a pair off of Ebay to replace the other two I'd already painted. I tried painting up three figures last night, trying to come up with something that is A)easy to do and remember and B)still looks dark and sinister. So, the other two I've already tossed into Simple Green since I didn't like how they came out (used metallics, didn't turn out so good). This third guy I rather like, but I wanted some opinions.

Like the psykers, always wanted some but never would pony up the cash, turned out well since I don't really 40k anymore. But yours look good.
I like your dark eldar. Is he finished? I really like the red into bronze/brass or whatever it is you've got going on there, though I'm not as sure about the bright mithril/silver gun, almost too striking. And is the knife finished? I have to wonder as it seems pretty plain for all of the runes on it. I definitely love the main body though, seems very fresh and nu-dar like other schemes that have been cropping up lately.

Actually, yeah, I did forget to put a wash on that knife. I fixed it though, and I've decided to actually paint those details in purple. If I pick up any more Kabalite squads, I'll paint those details in different colors so that I can tell the squads apart. While I've been busy this weekend with moving, I did manage to paint up two more Eldar (built five, actually, one more is halfway through being painted and the other two are primed). On top of that, I found an all metal Space Marine Dreadnought for $10 at the FLGS (which I bought) and built my Reconguista in G Elf Bullock kit and the Build Fighters Hi-Mock kits. There was a bit of disappointment with the two Gundam kits. The Hi-Mock's biceps and thigh segments are supposed to be a lighter shade of green, but they were in the same shade of green as the rest of the kit, which means I'll need to paint if I want the details right. The Elf Bullock was more disappointing though because the kit is WAY too small. In the show, the Elf Bullock was probably about twice the size of the G-Self, but the kit is the same size. Very disappointing that they scaled it down so much.
Anyway, you don't care about that. Pics of my Dark Eldar!
I really like the Dark Lance figure. She's cool looking.
And together with the original test figure.

I'm thinking that once I get the two replacement warriors, I'm going to try and expand the list to a simple 500pts. So, I know I need an HQ option and I'm thinking of getting an Archon. Problem is, I don't like the current plastic one very much. He's just kind of standing there in an awkward pose. I like the previous version a lot, but the metal doesn't seem to be that easy to get for a reasonable price and I really don't want the Finecast version. So, I'm thinking that, as an alternative, this Anima Tactics figure might make a great Archon with pretty much no modifications.
I think about all I'd need to do is ditch the shadow things.

Yeah drop the shadowy scything talons (but save for haemonculus or similar) and maybe handswap him a pistol, blade, or both. If that won't look good maybe belt them on instead.
I think he'd look quite fetching in your scheme.

No no, you should buy more Haqqislam instead.
I was thinking that if I do get him, I might put a holstered gun and sword on his hip or something just so I can have WYSIWYG. I do kind of like his laughing maniacally pose. Seems fitting for a Dark Eldar.
Also, I have plans for a Haemonculus. If I get one, I'm going to use a Warmachine Cephalyx. They're damn near perfect. Any one of those guys is an absolutely perfect stand in with absolutely no modding needed. Some of their Drudges would work really well as Grotesques, too.
