Subject: Advice needed about still water gone wrong
I’ve been making my first diorama - a sort of battlefield display base for an old epic Eldar army that I’m painting up. I made a river and filled it with a few layers of Vallejo still water: It was looking great but then today after not looking at it for a few days I went back and saw that some patches had gone all frosty. Does anybody know why? And can anything be done about it? It’s been warm here recently - could that be the problem? I hope somebody will be able to help.
I’m thinking about painting over the patches and adding another layer of water but I’m worried the same thing will happen again

Still Water will harden overnight as well but you will need to do multiple thin layers each requiring time to dry/cure. If you pour a fresh layer
over a layer that is not quite cured, it tends to go cloudly...like solid white cloudy but this will disappear eventually so keep that in mind.

Take a close-up photo, put it somewhere warm and more importantly dry for a week, and then take another photo and compare. I'm guessing it's trapped moisture causing it to appear foggy, which will slowly evaporate out over time.
Have no idea... Mayhaps a reaction of the water effects with the surface? Or Mayhaps this material needs to be applied in very thin layers, and a thicker pour will cure in weird ways? Is the white many tiny tiny tiny air bubbles?
In any case, it should not be too hard to over it up
Modpoge and sraw over that!, Straw is to blow air onto the modpoge for ripple effect.

Thanks all for the replies. I applied it in thin layers. Three layers. Each time I thought it was completely dry before I applied the next layer but maybe it wasn't? In any case after three layers it looked absolutely fantastic and then after a couple of weeks it started to turn white. Really disappointing. I think I'm going to need to cut it all out and start again with proper resin. But before doing anything drastic I'm hoping that if I leave it a few more weeks it'll revert to being clear
