So, there's the rather silly option to have a Primaris Techmarine lead a unit of Servitors and then have a unit of Servitors join that unit, giving you a Primaris Techmarine and 8 Servitors as a single unit.

But... where's the limit?

At the start of the Declare Battle Formations step, this unit
can join one other unit from your army that is being led by
a Techmarine. If it does, until the end of the battle, every
model in this unit counts as being part of that Bodyguard
unit, and that Bodyguard unit’s Starting Strength is
increased accordingly.

A Primaris Techmarine can lead a unit of Intercessors. Could you attach multiple units of Servitors to a Techmarine-lead Intercessor unit?

The Servitors can join one other unit that is being led by the Techmarine, and the Techmarine is leading the Interecessors, so two units of Servitors would be joining one unit being led by a Techmarine.

You've stated the limit

You can join one other unit being lead by a techmarine.

Now you have two joined units being lead by a techmarine

So the following unit cant join because it can only join one other unit being lead by a tech marine

So the limited is 8 servitors not 12

OK this gets weirder the more I look into it.

1 servitors can only join a techmarine keyword unit the primaris techmarine doesn't have this and the basic techmarine can't join intercessors

2 the servitors attach at the start of the declare battlefield step and "can join one other unit from your army that is being led by a Techmarine." Problem is leaders are not declared until during the declare battlefield step so there are no units with leaders at the point they can join a unit with a leader

3 if we treat the attaching of servitors and declaring of attached leaders as simultaneous we go to the sequencing rules which tell you as it is out of turn to role off and the winner decides resolution in which case Your opponent could win and say you have to resolve servitors first.

4 even if you treat it as simultaneous and you win the roll off their are two interpretations one is that the leader rules cause you to treat the bodyguard unit as one unit for all rules purposes and servitors join the bodyguard unit so you have one unit that another servitors can join to become one unit.

The other interpretation is that the leader rule doesn't apply because it is worded

"While a Bodyguard unit contains a Leader,"

While the declare battlefield formations step says

"In the order stated below, both
players now secretly note down:
■ Which of their Leader units will
start the battle attached"

Therefore they only count as a single unit for all rules purposes at the start of the battle as until that point they don't contain a leader.

Therfore when a servitor unit says it "can join one other unit from your army that is being led by a Techmarine." It counts as two units till the start of battle then becomes a single unit. Another servitor unit wouldn't be able to bolt on because it is trying to join two units lead by a techmarine not one other in the same vain that two Lieutenants cant join a captain. Or we are back to it not being able to join at all because it can join a unit led by a techmarine and the techmarine doesn't lead till the start of battle

In conclusion it probably doesnt work RAW even if we stretch things it doesn't work half the time and then only if you use a favourable but not provable interpretation

Best avoided
