I'm working on a CSM army that won't use any actual Chaos Space Marines, and to get around my restriction of no Space Marines, I intend to do an...unusual kitbash of Necromunda Goliath models. Skitarii heads and metallic skintone to be specific.

I kinda want some inspiration for the rest of the army: what are some of the most strange and bizzare takes on a Chaos (Marine or otherwise) army that you all have seen?

Not exactly seen as such, but allow me to plunder my Realm of Chaos Gifts and Mutations charts to give you some “canonical” examples which might spark your imagination?

I’ll include their D1000 results for fun and flavour.

D061-075

Beweaponed Extremities. Arms and or legs have been replaced with blades or mace like appendages

D321-335

Horns. You’ve got Horns, you can gore opponents

D366-380

Iron Hard Skin

D501-515

Mechanoid. Your Kryten now. No not really. Many of the mutants in the unit have one or more mechanical parts substituted for their natural limbs and organs which are bonded to their living flesh. Tracks or wheels replace legs, arms become great pumping pistons, torsos are sheathed in metallic skins.

D531-545

Metal Body.

D696-710

Razor Sharp Claws

All entirely legitimate possibly mutations from Chaos’ earliest and arguably most fun days

You may want to look to RT chaos figures for some inspiration. Or just look at some of the artwork from a post apocalypse movie or even some of the more out there Sci-Fi stuff from the 40's and 50's.

Would ogryns as obliterators count?

Could also go the Fantasy route and use the various chaos warriors and the like from that line for your models.

...Then there's always the (Rhubic) cube chaos army...

It never ends well

Check out the Chaos kits from Age of Sigmar. Chaos Warriors, Chaos Chosen, Putrid Blightkings, Blood Warriors, Skullreapers/Wrathmongers, Myrmidesh Painbringers, and Kairic Acolytes all work great for CSM conversions.

I use loyalist rules for my Alpha Legion marines, and I intend to use cultists and necromunda models with GSC rules to represent an Alpha Legion cultist army. Does that count?

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

The Cubes of Tzeentch is the weirdest I can remember off the top of my head. Is daemons though.
