What all would the big book out of Leviathan have that you’d be missing if you just got the Crusade Book and used the free PDF for the core rules?

The Crusade book appears (by comparing contents pages in Lev and Crusade) to be identical to what is in the back of the Leviathan book.
Leviathan has 200 pages of fluff at the start. That seems to be it.
Both have the same rules index, which will match the PDF.

Saying that Leviathan has "200 pages of fluff" is too generous. It has 70 pages of general lore, most of it recycled from the 9th edition corebook if I remember it well, even with the same illustrations, 2 pages with a summation of Arks of Omen and 130 pages that present the official armies.

This official armies presentation is 2 pages of text about the faction, 1 page with a photo of the faction combat patrol and 1 page describing the contents of the combat patrol. And you better love astartes because the factions are 7 loyalist astartes chapters (counting Grey Knights), 4 spiky astartes legions, daemons, guard, sororitas, knights, custodes and the 8 xenos factions. There is also one photo of a big army of each faction but they are disappointingly small. I find very strange that they dedicated so much space to what is in fact a catalogue of Combat Patrols instead of showing more photos of big armies, I think in that aspect is a downgrade from the "wow" effect that the 9th edition corebook had.

I still haven't read all, but while I have enjoyed having the chance to read a printed version of the core rules, the only part of the book that has really caught my fancy is the Leviathan crusade part that they sell now separately. I've only read some fragments of it but it seems that follows the pattern of narrative books that they have published in the last years of making a good work of creating an interesting setting for a campaign or game and some solid characterful moments in the fiction.

So the Core Rules PDF and the Leviathan Crusade Book is going to give you all the same rules as the big combined book from the Leviathan Box, you’re just missing out on fluff and lore?

Yes. You'll want the cards, which all options need for the missions.

I weighed up the leaked prices of the A5-ish rulebook, Crusade book and cards, and went for a cast-off Leviathan book and cards for less.
If you want the 200 extra pages, and want to pay less, fish around for any for sale. Otherwise, the triple set is smaller, but probably costs more.

Though, the Crusade book will probably be replace with a campaign / Chapter Approved season book (and cards?), so the set takes up a lot less space if you get to leave the current one at home.

I’m picking up a Leviathan Box Book and Mission Deck from eBay, my plan is to see if anyone wants to trade me just the Crusade book for the Box Book for the decreased weight.
