Gladiator Lancer, Predator Annihilator, Repulsor Executioner and Vindicator all have weapons that can reliability wound a Tyrannofex.
A Storm Speeder Thunderstrike can improve your to wound rolls against it by one.
Redemptor Dreads and Repulsors both have a good source of Mortal Wounds especially if you oath of moment the Tyrannofex.

Alternatively, don't shoot it with big guns until it dies.

Charging it with a dreadnought equivalent should work. It has no real melee, so you are basically getting free hits on it. MSU melee troops with anti tank weapons should work as well. But I can't think of much that can fit the bill now power fists are effectively nerfed.

Predator Annihilator I'd say. 4 Lascannon shots, reroll a damage roll of 1 against Monsters and Vehicles.

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.

Oath of Moment should help too.

Yeah rerolling the wound roll would come in very handy, turning 50% into 75% - Thunderstrike + Predator would pretty much guarantee it. Hopefully they've got more monsters than a Tyrranofex.

Desolators+OotM. No problems with return fire and they work very well vs other targets that tyranids run too.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

Is it not only 3 shots?

It is 3 shots.

It was 4 in 9th but the twin lascannon is now only one shot though at strength 14 with a reroll.

Or, alternatively, stab it till it dies.

In all truthfulness though, the gun is ver swingy. 2d6 damage can one shot some big things, but it is also capable of doing just 2 damage.

Shouldn't oath of moment + "anything s7+ or capable of mortals" do the trick? I thought marines didn't really suffer in lethality in this edition shift, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

Given it is Sv 2+, T 12, W 18 with -1 Damage for attacks targeting it, I think you need to be a little more careful with what you target it with for efficient damage.

That being said, bunch of Lascannons are exactly what the doctor ordered in this place. S12 means you wound on a 4+, AP -3 means it saves on a 5+, and d6+1 damage means each failed save is d6 wounds.

A Vindicator pumping out d6+3 S14, AP -3, D d6 attacks is a better answer than Lascannons, but lacks the range. The same can be said for the good, old Multi-Melta. Will still do work if you fire 4 of them within Melta Range.

That being said, don't expect a Tyrannofex to disappear to less than overwhelming firepower. The options above are likely to remove only 1/3rd of the model's Wounds (without AoM assistance).

Ah I somehow missed that it has 18 wounds. Makes sense now

Obligatory: nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Want a better way to do fantasy/historical miniatures battles?  Try Conqueror: Fields of Victory.

Do you like Star Wars but find the prequels and sequels disappointing?  Man of Destiny is the book series for you.
