Yes yes, I know 40k is capped at 1000 pts standard minimum, but space, time, and access has me playing smaller sized games at home.

For the 500 point games, we have been using 2 Killteam boards, AKA "Combat Patrol" size.

Now that we are bumping up to 750, I'm not sure whether to bring out the bigger 44 x 60 Incursion board, or stick to the Combat Patrol board.

Thoughts? Opinions? Thanks in advance!

48"x48" has been the standard for 500-1000 point games for a long time, moving up to 48"x72" for larger games. GW's absurdly tiny "minimum" board sizes (which the competitive community inexplicably decided to treat as the only legal board size) are the result of fitting the standard shipping box GW uses, not because of any gameplay reason. The game still works better on normal table sizes where you have more room for movement to matter.

Wait, I lied, it's not inexplicable at all. GW's TO business partners sell mats for tournament games and adopted the new size as the tournament standard so they could sell you the new size.

Well, a month & a half ago you'd have used a 44x30 board. Why wouldn't that work today?

Really though you should be using your own judgement, not some arbitrary pts lv. Look at the #s/types of models & the terrain your using. Does the board seem too small/cramped? If so, use a bigger board.

No it's not. Play whatever you want.

And use a 4x4 board. Forget GW's silly made up sizes.
