I like that they have both Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt playing the same role at two different points in the characters life. More shows should do this instead of getting unrelated actors (yes, that’s a joke).

Gojira and Jack Burton? At the same time?

Yes please, Santa! Pretty sure I’ve got some free AppleTv on offer too since I upgraded my iPad.

It's Gojira and Jack Burton and Captain America / U.S. Agent

Top marks for that casting as previously mentioned in the thread.

Extra marks for ensuring he looked like his Dad at the start of his movie career, in such carefree slices of fun as The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes!

Yeah. Much as I like Godzilla I'm not signing up for another streaming service.

I’ll be watching at least some of it, as my 3 months free had to be triggered this week, and ends around three weeks into this show.

I’ll be back to offer my brains on whether it might be worth a One Month Sign Up Binge.

Spesh as I see Foundation is on there.

I'll see if I can catch it on a free trial period. Foundation adds an extra incentive. I've kept D+ and Amazon Prime rolling along. It feels like Apple might be a more targeted approach.

Having only recently gotten Apple TV, I highly recommend for anyone that's on the fence. Foundation is excellent. I've also really dug Silo and Invasion, so there's some great sci fi on there if that's your jam. Crowded Room and Platonic were also great.

And it begins!

Episode 1

Quick opener set in 1973, then a pair of time jumps to 2013, then 2015.

Solid production values are evident from the get go. Wee “Archive Footage” cameos of Kong and Godzilla. We also see one of the Forest Spider things from Skull Island. So it makes it clear this is part of the wider Kongzilla franchise, and not some knock-off cash-in.

Nice little world building touches, including a Japanese Airport having a “Godzilla Evacuation Route”, so you get a feel of just how profoundly the Titan’s emerging impacted humanity.

Solid amount of mystery too, as things occur that I won’t specify which are clearly plot hooks for the series.

Strong start, and I’ll definitely be back for more.

Only criticism?

Rogue Tech Head Girl. I dunno if it’s just my hearing, or the audio mix, but I struggled to understand what she was saying in some bits.

My issue is the mixed languages and my Yar service doesn’t cast soft coded subtitles to the TV so I’m missing chunks of dialogue. Haven’t watched episode two yet.

Do apple+ series receive physical releases?

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Okay, that looks solid. However, when was John Goodman's character alone like that during the events of Skull Island? I thought he was basically around army guys until getting eaten by a skull crawler?

Also, that trailer is prime for a photoshop. Replace the spider with a giant Roseanne Barr.

‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ Renewed for Season 2, Multiple Spinoffs in the Works at Apple TV+ - Variety

“Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” has been renewed for Season 2 at Apple TV+, Variety has learned.

In addition, Apple has struck a deal with Legendary Entertainment to develop multiple spinoff series set in the so-called Monsterverse. Exact plot details for the spinoffs are being kept under wraps.

“‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ has left an indelible imprint on the hearts, minds and imaginations of audiences around the world, led by the brilliance of Chris, Matt, Kurt, Wyatt and the incredibly gifted talented cast and creative team,” said Morgan Wandell, head of international development for Apple TV+. “We couldn’t be more excited for viewers to not only have the chance to experience even more thrills in season two, but to embark on epic, new journeys in the franchise, as we expand Legendary’s Monsterverse.”

Monarch was an alright series, but the latest movie shows they’re not really adhering to its version. In the series time moves faster in Hollow Earth so hours down there are years on the surface, but the movies don’t use that at all and everything advances the same.

I've seen a theory online that time moves faster in Axis Mundi and not the Hollow Earth as a whole.

What is Axis Mundi? They were popping down thru any random portal and having fast time in the series, while any random portal in the movies don’t.
