Greetings all,

In preparation for an upcoming Kill Team narrative campaign, I have given myself a bit of a challenge. I decided to paint a box of Sisters of Battle for my Kill Team, and I have given myself 5 days complete it. The Campaign begins this Saturday.

You can read all the gory details on why I did this to myself, about the list I chose, why I chose it, and a bit about the campaign on my Blood and Spectacles blog here:

https://bloodandspectacles.blogspot.com/2024/01/on-painting-desk-5-day-challenge.html

I will be trying to "live" blog as I go on this one.

The key thing is that I intend to build, prime, paint, and detail all in 5-days for a 10 Sister roster. Do you think I can do it? I am not sure, as I still have all my normal life activities to attend to as well. No sitting around and working on this for hours at a time! Wish me luck!

I think 2/h per day, so 10 hours in total should be quite enough to build, paint and base 10 models, 1h/model.

Speedpainting with mostly Contrasts or similar paints shouldn't take more than 20-30min per model, the other half an hour for building and basing that model also sounds like enough time.

So, yeah, if you can spare 2h per day, definitely doable. Good luck!

I think your right Cyel. I think I can do it. However, I did not clear my calendar at all to do this, so maybe not?

Day 1 is done and everything is assembled with a basic Grey Seer primer.

You can read all the details and see some more photos on the blog if you are so inclined.

Tomorrow I hope to finish priming with a dark grey wash and dry brush of white. Maybe I can even decide on a color scheme by then?

Here we are at the end of Day 2, and I made a several bad decisions when it comes to speed painting.

1. I went helmetless so I could paint them with various skin colors and to keep that iconic Sister of Battle look.

2. For some stupid reason, I decided to try and give them White armor. I have never painted that much white before. Plus, I have never used the Speedpaint Holy White before.

Here is what the test models looked like:

That is not white! It is light grey. Oh dear.

It took me the rest of the day, and I got to a white that I am happy with.... for now. However, I will probably mess it all up when I go to the next colors anyway.

At the end of the day, things look a lot like when the day started!

Okay, Day 3 is done and I got a lot more paint on the models but they still don't look like much at this point......

That white armor is just not working! I should have used my trusty "Palid Bone" but that has a bit more of a yellowish look to it than I wanted. This is looking more grey, and after I give it a light wash.... who knows?

Anyway, the main colors are done on all the Sisters and I even did a bit of work on the Icon.

Tomorrow, it is on to detail work. Might have to do small batches at a time to avoid missing anything. We'll see.

I just finished off Day 4, and detailing has begun...

Sadly, I did not finish all the detailing I wanted so that will push me back into Day 5. There is a lot to do on this final day of the challenge!

Today is the 5th day. Was is mission accomplished or mission failure?

Going into the last day I had to finish up some detail work, wash, base, and varnish. Tomorrow was time to start playing games with these models.

The washes and the detail work pulled it all together- well done! Especially working with white, a difficult base color to get right. You've got it in spades, here.

Well, the first day of the campaign is over.

Despite the photo, the Order of St. Augustine Martyred did not get to hit the table! I was paired up with an Imperial player, so the Hand of the Archon got the nod.

Thanks for all the support and well-wishes. I think I might try something like this again when my Chaos Guard show up.
