I was not expecting a film - that said its ideal hollywood fodder. Mindless shooting, explosions, daft jokes and a claptrap

I imagine a Michael Caine or Dakota Johnson type situation here.

Wow that is quite the cast! Lots of names I wouldn't expect to see in the movie. I am so hyped for this. Maybe we'll get Mr. Torgue and Handsome Jack in the sequel.

Huh, Cate Blanchette is definitley not who I would expect to be casted as Lilith. Same thing for Kevin Hart being Roland, I would expect more Idris Elba.

I expect this movie to follow the trend of most video-game to movie adaptations and be terrible outside of a few meme clips of bad dialogue that's going to be spread across youtube.

Likely, though studios seem to be jumping onto it as the next big genre and finding success. It's likely to be a Fantastic Four but could pull off being a Blade.

Who is Jamie Lee Curtis supposed to be? I can figure out the other characters, which are pretty obvious, but not her.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

The first thing that strikes me is both of the older female leads have this "I'm too old for this" kind of feel to them - though could be just what got picked out for the trailer.

Also why isn't Marcus there to drive the waggon?!

Trailer dashed my optimism pretty hard. It definitely wants this to be the next Guardians so very very much which fits just fine, but everyone feels like they're doing their bit rather than bringing these characters to life. At no point did it occur to me that Ariana is supposed to be Tina and instead just seems to be playing the teenage daughter who doesn't want to be stuck on the road trip. The rest of the cast also has this "aren't we all so insane" bits of dialog while looking a little bored if anything.

Helluva cast overall.

Never played the game, but the cast alone has me intrigued.

Well it looks the same as everything else, explosions and canned humour. Couldn't put my finder on it but yea Guardians is an apt comparison. We'll see if the epic cast can carry it.

Struggling about in Asmos territory.

Can't say I have watched any good movies for like 5 years straight now.. well.. perhaps 'Beau is afraid'.. can't think of another.

Usually with these adaptations of video games.. it all turns into a gloom of expectation vs adaptation.. where the directors or actors get way too much free reign and change characters entirely into exactly something else which -they- for some reason want to be telling or showing. I find that insulting both to the writer of that which they use (in this case the Borderlands storyboard) and the fans of such.

As someone who wrote many fantasy books (unpublished, but still) I know all to well how your story is both a puzzle that paints the picture only by its exact pieces' as much as a personal-story in which the writer puts his/her very soul, personality and dreams.

I find it parasitical how the movie industry ignores that so often.

I have played borderlands games back when I still was a gamer (haven't been one for about 6 years now) and always loved them, always buying all dlc (of which there was a lot) and enjoyed the games in split screen with my younger brother.

I therefor feel rather ..uneasy' with this movie and wether I should watch it, not wanting to besmirch my fond memories of the games.

edit: oh apparently it is directed by Eli Roth..
great.. I really, REALLY hate that guy.

I have mixed feelings.

I can't really say it's going to be a stinker, but it just kinda feels off somehow.

I’m just hoping for some funny memes at this point. Just give me one terribad line I can laugh at, and I’ll be amused.

PS: I can’t really let this go—if you think Beau is Afraid is the only good movie released in the last five years, why are you even looking in on a video game movie, or on any new movies? You’re not going to enjoy a single flick until the next time A24 puts out some film about a goat giving birth to a gifted cellist or something. Why torture yourself with p…p…popular IP movies *retching noises*?

While I've only seen the commercials, this is definitely feeling like the Twisted Metal TV series.

The bar for movies has definitely been dropping like a stone, so its not a totally incorrect sentiment but there are still studios making absolute bangers. Dune and Puss in Boots the Last Wish just to name 2.

Hopefully Disney gets on with its death rattle soon so the overall quality of movies can pick back up.

It looks like they have successfully "Marvelized" this IP.

I have no idea what Blanchette is doing with that voice, and what on God's green earth they were doing with the casting. Just, some really strange choices right out of the gate. I have very, very low expectations for this.
