Did you wwatch David Ayer's Suicide Squad and think that we didn't get enough of Jared Leto's Joker design? Well have we got the movie for you!

To be fair, that grungy horrible tatoo look is pretty perfect for the Crow. This looks about as good of a new Crow movie as any of us could hope for.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

The difference being Mr Skarsgard can, like, actually act. And display charisma. And isn’t a raging egomaniac long since firmly wedged up his own fundament. Who may or may not be someone you’d trust around [REDACTED].

The first is a classic, but mostly because it’s so Of Its Time.

I’m open to this not sucking.

Hard disagree but I'm still willing to give it a chance. His look is silly* but the bigger issue is going from something street level crime, even the Lee film's cult organized crime group was subdued and not a massive organization, to an Eye's Wide Shut/Court of Owls secret cabal of opulent wealth. That won't necessarily make it bad but it is a drastic change in tone.

*which just means that younger people will flock to it like they did in the 90s. I know I'm old and out of touch.

Hurry a crow sequel pretending to be a franchise reboot.
( Sarcasm.)
A few name changes and this might be a solid sequel.

The soundtrack will never be as good as the original.

Viewing it as a sequel is a good idea. It’s not like any of the previous sequels provided any real continuity, just retold the story slightly differently, and not anywhere near as well

Ooof, hard pass.

They’ve missed the entire point of the first film; Eric and Shelly weren’t mixed up in some dark conspiracy, they were just good, innocent, people who were in the way. Their deaths, were brutal, senseless and unnecessary, which is why Eric is drawn back.

Also seems to be entirely missing Sarah and Albrecht and their associated redemption arcs. [Edit] Which, the more I think about it are the heart of the story; Eric is a heroic character not because he avenges Shelly’s death, but because he saves Sarah’s life. Not just from physical threat, but in a complete way, giving her a future, hope.

The first John Wick film has more in common with The Crow than this garbage.

Absolutely. All of the above, plus it doesn't look Goth enough. Just leave films like this alone, Hollywood. Enough of the endless reboots.

The formula is good. I do recall being unhappy with some of the sequels before I ever got to see them, like the third one and on. This was a little silly of be because they were at best B movies and over all not really that bad in that context.

What's not to like about a super natural themed revenge movie.
I do think some movies are just better with a lower budget and unknown actors than big box office money and stars.

The only thing that's really jumped out at me about this new one is the brutality level seems really high. Very graphic and very modern.

I see all the crow movies as isolated incidents. All "sequels" in the universe of The Crow.

That thing happened and this guy get to be The Crow and then his situation wraps up and his soul is laid to rest.

Then something else happens and now that person gets to be The Crow.

Hate to say it, but Goth is dead. The kids are not wearing dusters and black eye liner. Goth gave way to Emo and now I am too old to know what the hell the kids are up to.

This was never going to be goth like the 90s were goth.

Goth, Emo, Vampire kid. They're all basically the same anyway. All inspired by Egger Allen Poe.

I think this doesn't look great. The original is in my tiop 10 favourite movies so I may be biased, but I'll give it a shot.

Danny Huston always plays a great villian, and the actress who plays Demerzel in Foundation(she's one of my favorites in that show) looks to be his partner.

Cautiously optimistic. Also makes me want to rewatch the original.

Is there any need for this movie? Yet another sequel I could just about tolerate, if it was any good, but we just don't need a remake, surely? Brandon Lee is just too iconic.

Its been 30 years since the original and at least a change from the DC and Marvel movies.

I like that Bill is playing another supernatural character, and will also be seen in Nosferatu in December. I enjoyed the director's previous live action Ghost In The Shell and Snow White was somewhat decent.

Hopefully we'll be saying it again; "Better than Batman."

So an actor and director that just keep remaking things that aren’t really necessary. Yaaaay.

Someone said they were cautiously optimistic whereas I would say I'm cautiously pessimistic. I hope it is good but I'm not expecting it to be. It seems like another remake/reboot that doesn't fundamentally understand the original, either book or film, and is all surface level. They saw "undead vigilante out for revenge". I don't care if they don't go goth but he should be more relatable and "normal" and most kids aren't mullet wearing face tattooed sales pitches. The look didn't come from whatever brought him back (in the trailer you see the black blood coming out of his eyes to make the stripes on his face) but just face paint he put on. He wasn't contending with what appears to be PMC but local low life donkey-caves.

Once again, it's a welcome change from the MCU and DC movies.

I'm not against remakes in general, but this looks awful.

And a weird choice to do it as a remake in a franchise where disconnected sequels could work so well. They could have so easily just made a new movie with new characters.

And movie trailers need to stop synchronizing gunfire to the soundtrack. It was clever the first few dozen times, but it's done. Find a new gimmick.

There are a lot of movies that aren't MCU or DC. In fact most aren't.

This. The whole lore is “this is a thing that happens from time to time, when circumstances conspire.” It has the easiest justification for new films in the series. But make them better. Make them be about something emotional, meaningful, not just generic Hollywood evil corporation.

It doesn’t need to be goth; the gothic look was what got people to watch it*, because it was cool and fashionable at the time, but people love it because of what it made them feel.

* there’s also the morbid fascination over what happened to Brandon, but again that only gets people in the door.

Really? Anything comic-book related this year seems to have the MCU or DC stamp on it. I'm open to suggestions, though...

That's unfair if you're caveating it as "comic-book" related, you'd have to go back to 1940's Flash Gordon stuff for that category to not to be dominated by Marvel and DC.

Well, maybe they would again, inspired by a properly done The Crow remake/sequel...

The Gorh look really was just a product of the time, and was a choice of the character, not necessarily the lore.

With that in mind, being the Crow wouldn't just be limited to moody musician, artist types. Can you imagine a Crow that was previously some Cubical Drone? Imagine an outfit that was a twisted version of glasses/button down shirt/slacks/black wingtip shoes . Like the movie Falling Down, but supernatural. Honestly, it's a twist I'd enjoy.

"Comic book related" was not part of the original statement. If that is what was meant it would have been easy to say but it seems we're going with the "It isn't what I said it is what I meant and it is your fault for not reading what I didn't write" route.
