How do!

Felt this was worth sharing,

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2024/05/03/warehouse-update/

Closed between 27 May and 3 June, so expect shipping delays if ordering in that window.

Wow! Their system is so broken its going to need a whole week shutdown to try and fix!

Isn't that quite the admission to gloss over on a 2 line update.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

To be fair for the average customer that's about all they need to know.

Fingers crossed this helps them resolve some of their issues and get the warehouse working right or at least better

Or they're doing a manual stock check.

i wonder if it's shut to try and fix the system,

or to manually figure out what is actually in there warehouse (and where it is) as a shonky warehouse system is great at 'loosing' stuff so you end up with boxes filling space that never leave as the system doesn't aknowlege they exist

From a UK retailer point of view, their deliveries have been getting back to normal, so this might just be a year-end stock take.

It's probably this. June is the end of their fiscal year and a full stock take may be an accounting requirement if they've been seeing too many issues from the new system.

Do you, like, think in clickbait video titles or what?

Alternatively: where were you to tell us what was really going on last time they did a stock take?

I was wondering how long it would take before hot conspiracy takes started.

I was hoping for longer than three minutes but oh well.

Or both. A working system still needs accurate numbers work with.

I’m wondering if this might mean a week free of pre-orders? Avoid a backlog as much as possible.

Also a good time to clear up before a big new edition launch that's not too far off.

clearly GW are only doing this so they can fill the warehouses with WOKE before the new AOS edition comes out

yeah idk this is pretty nothing. companies stopping every now and then to make sure things are still working is entirely reasonable

If a week off could fix the ERP issues surely they'd have done it a year ago.

GW have never needed to close for a week to do a stock take before, so it must be related to the ERP switchover turning into an unholy mess.

It is very unusual for a mail order business of GW's turnover to just shut for a week, the ERP situation must be very bad and it having lost track of stock of products in a pretty fundamental way/require an entire database recreation. Will be interesting to see how they try to gloss over it in the earnings statement.

I once worked in a very busy EU/UK warehouse, longest down time was a bank holiday weekend, even then... thode were jot always guaranteed. So it must be a huge undertaking.

Hope it sorts out any issues they've had.

The objective of the game is to win. The point of the game is to have fun. The two should never be confused.

This period also lines up with UK Games Expo - so, to a degree, it makes sense to have a shut down when a chunk of stock & staff are going to be at an external event, away from your internal stock system, I'd've thought.

The worst part is most of it is 'in stock', they're just 'waiting' on the Aegis defense line. And the kicker? I sent to emails about a month apart, and got the same exact response each time, as if they were copy/pasted.

Running a warehouse is a serious business, not at all surprised they'd stop it for a while to make stuff like inventories, check machenieries, lift forks, stocks, cleaning... and whatever.

That's a good idea to share the news though, good to take into account into you buying plans!

Whatever they are going to do (I personally like the idea of them all looking for Manfred von Drakkens scenery) they probably know exactly what they are doing with this kind of non explanatory information, generating casual speculation.

I would certainly not have bothered with this thread if they actually said from the start what its about.

Well done warhammer community.

I entirely agree that there are all sorts of reasons why it makes sense for them to do it, but as noted above, I have never heard of them shutting up shop for this long. I mean, given the regular complaints about delivery times, one wonders why they even bothered announcing it.

I suspect it’s a combination of all the stuff mentioned so far.

And for all we know? They could have a massive rat or other pest infestation, and are having the place fumigated, or some structural issue has come to light which can’t be fixed whilst working around Business As Usual.

Perhaps even more importantly than their staff and stock, hopefully a good chunk of the customer base will be there and not browsing the online shop

Why would the system be great at unbinding things? Y'know, loosing them? Or is the system good at losing things?
