Received my box the other day, building everything ready to paint then play. Really looking forward to it

I need some clarification though. Am I right in thinking that the only differences between dedicated transport and a transport detachment is that the dedicated do not add to the formation break point but can only be used for the detachment they were bought for. While the transport detachment does add to the break point but can be used by any eligible detachment in the formation?

I feel that this is correct but it just seems awkward. Am I missing something?

Pretty much. The dedicated detachment cannot exceed the size required to transports its cargo while a regular TD can be on the larger side. Dedicated detachments also do not take up FOC slots, but the game is so forgiving with extra formations that it's basically never a real problem.
