Got some miniatures a few days ago from a local shop, they just came in packaging with no name or manufacturer or anything on them. Nothing on the miniatures itself showing who made them either. It was £10 for the set of 4.
Can't find them anywhere and have no idea what/who they are from. Shop doesn't know either.

They look nice. Are there any non-manufacturer markings on the base? Sometimes a number or somesuch can give a clue on lost minis wiki.

There's nothing on the bases at all

My brain keeps saying Grenadier, but I’ve bugger all to back that up with.
Bloody nice models though, Spesh for the price.

I had assumed that they were at least somewhat recent miniatures the shop got new from one of their suppliers, but my brother (as he's the one who bought them for me) said that they might have bought a collection of old miniatures off someone and just be bundling them themselves or something like that.
So i suppose that means they could be from a very long time ago and also different manufacturers to each other. Which would make it even more difficult to find them.

Odd that they don’t have something on the underside of the base. Most companies put a year and a few letter abbreviation there.
Are there multiple mold lines, or other signs of them being recasts?

It's not the norm, but I've certainly purchased more than a few legit miniatures with no markings. I wouldn't assume recast unless they were of known, valuable figures, but then we wouldn't be having this discussion.
At first glance I thought they might be Old Glory, but they don't appear to be in their catalog.
If no one here can ID them, you could probably find the answer at Lead Adventure or TMP.

Did ask at the Lead Aventure Forum earlier, so far no one there knows either.

Grenadier would have been my guess. Is the not-Gandalf looking wizard holding a wand or is that a piece of flash? Automatically Appended Next Post: Eilif wrote: At first glance I thought they might be Old Glory, but they don't appear to be in their catalog. That would be a good guess as well. Back in the day (as in the mid 90s), I picked up a couple of lead elephant men with little maces in their trunks with shields from the dollar (or was it 50 cent?) hodgepodge mismatch bin over at Emperor's HQ. They're silly little figs but I love them.

That wizard was part of a second hand lot I got about half a year ago. No idea where it's from. I was able to identify everything else and almost all of it was from the late 90s to mid 00s.
It's worth noting that they're much bigger than you'd assume from the solid bases. The wizard's like 32mm to the eyeline, which pretty much rules out the usual suspects like Grenadier.

It could be that they removed the tabs for a slotta base, the info would be on those tabs if those where gw or citadel minis.

Those minis would not have had stlotta tabs.
They don't need them.

I l like anthropomorphic animal figs. Would love pics or a link if you've got them.

Sure, I'll endeavor to find and photograph him without getting lead poisoning! I don't want to oversell what he looks like as he's a goofy little elephantman sculpt I love that I picked up in the loose discount bin and EHQ back as an early teen. The sculpt quality/asthetics look like they're early 80s to mid 80s but I'll see if he has a date stamped/sculpted on him. I did a quick search online but didn't see any pics of anything similar.

That would be great!
I'm also trying to find pics or a supplier of a squad of 24mm'ish pygmy elephants with laser rifles that I saw at Little Wars a dozen years or so ago. Can't recall the make and though they were kind of crude, I've regretted not buying them since.

Forgot to give an update on this here at the time.
Turns out they were sculpted by Martin Baker for Heroes of the Dark Ages, and have been bought by Athena Miniatures so are going to be available there at some point.

Glad to hear you were able to ID them. Here are my old elephant men minis picked up in the loose bargain bin back in the 90s. One of the elephantmen's mace head has broken off sometime in the past 30 years (though I do still have it loose in the baggie, lol). There are no markings/date on the underside unfortunately.

Thanks. Definitely never seen those before.
