So after I built the plasticard Macharius', I felt I wanted to build something bigger. First thing that came to mind was a MechaSquiggoth. After some research and planning I thought, it's going to be big. But not big enough. What's bigger than a Squiggoth? A Gargant! After a fair bit of research, a trip to Home Depot and a few plasticard orders, construction has begun. I did scale it back a little bit because while bigger is always better, it still has to fit on a table. I haven't officially named him, so his working name is "Tiny". The second picture has it's "Wang" gun and one of the arm guns. On the walkway is Barry, my scale boy.

Progress has been made. I’ll be adding some interior details that will be visible through the hole in the chest area.

Warlord Snotbag was most displeased with the apparent lack of progress, so he sent Big Mek Fuggoff to get the meks back on schedule. After about twpo weeks of work, I was pretty happy with the results of the weapons until I attached them to the body. I feel like they're a bit too weedy for something this size. The simple solution would be to widen the shoulders and lengthen the arms, but I still think they might look too small. I might need to rebuild them. I am, however, pleased with the way the articulated rear ramp turned out.

Rebuilt the big gun. Probably going to cut down the barrel a bit. It's a little long

Usually, I plan out my builds pretty well, but I decided to go Orky with this one and make it up as I go. Which has led to some pretty interesting turns, but now I'm a little stuck and I could use some input from someone outside the build. I'm not quite sure what to do with the back. The back of the torso will have a bunch of pipes and werky bits. Maybe a reactor or some sort of fuel tank(s). But the upper torso is still up in the air. I was thinking of building a mek shop/boiler room with a crane and a bunch of pipes, wires and smokestacks. I would go with a ramshakle look with some of the walls made with corrugated sheet metal and even some wood. The left shoulder pad will have a defkopta landing pad while the right one will have a flakk gun. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

Wow, sorry for the messy markup. I'm not used to drawing with a mouse.

I think what you have sounds cool. Do you need some shield generators? Honest question, I have no clue what’s “normal” to have equipped on those.

Might be fun to have some grots in a crow’s nest.

In addition to the landing spot for copters, maybe do up a whole carrier deck, with a steam catapult, some little grot scout fighter/bombers, arresting wires. Corner of the deck for the stormboys to muster and strap on their rocket packs. Air traffic control, grots with flags, munitions, luggage carts, beer.

I forgot to include the generators in the last post. Yes, there will be something along those lines. There will be a version of a crows nest as well. While a carrier style platform would be cool, there’s not enough room for all of that. A single kopta will take up most of the room on the shoulder pad. I also need to find somewhere to attach the supa rokkits.

Got the back blocked in and started adding a few details. My Grots built a place to hang out and hide from the Orks along with a place to sleep. Thinking of adding a sign above the bar. "Groties" or something like that. I'll also be adding a railing and a bar stool or two.

Super quick and dirty sketch of what I’ve got planned for the shoulder area. Going to have rokkits on at least one shoulder and maybe a supa-gatler on the other. The crane will be on a platform behind the left shoulder. There will be a mechanical “room” with the smoke stacks coming out of the top and a two story Mek shop attached. I’m both excited and dreading the crane. Not sure how it’s going to turn out.

Thank you! Here’s a better sketch of my plan for the back. Still needs a lot more details on the flat blank spots, but you can get the general idea of what I’m going for.

Progress! Got quite a bit done this weekend. I’ve still got a long way to go, but I’m happy with what I’ve gotten done. Lots more to add including a ton of detail work, head back, grits, etc. Ive already added somewhere north of 100 robots, but it’s not even a small dent in the total number. Here’s a a few pics without all of the background clutter of my desk. Plus one with his “little” brother. Carrying this thing around is like carrying a toddler.

So, I made a thing. Still need to add rivits, a hook and green stuff the little git. It wouldn’t be all that useful, but I really wanted to make a crane.

Just a hook for the end of the crane, or someone swinging on it a/o a load being brought up?

Not sure yet. I'm still in the planning stages for that part. Maybe I'll have it brining up a pallet of ammo or crates or something. I think I have a grot that looks like he's hanging from one arm. If I can find it, I'll have him hanging from the edge of the pallet.

Have you thought of stashing some little easter eggs about? Like some melta bombs/demo charges in an odd corner, grots shirking their job playing cards/dice out of the way, or a genestealer hiding in the ductwork…

I'm loving the little shack on the shoulders. That and the crane adds a lot of story and character. Is that the mek boss's office or the outhouse?

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

Thanks all. I'm going to have a few things going on throughout the build. I plan on having a grot getting electrocuted while holding a loose wire, a bartender grot and one drinking at the bar along with some other gretchin causing mayhem. There will probably be a few open hayches with a grot or two poking their heads out, too. That is the mek's workshop up top. The drops are somewhere down inside.
