My FLGS has a bunch of plastic bases on clearance for almost nothing. I have a bunch of old-school Imperial Guard heavy weapons teams (old metal Catachans, and some Catachan-like alternate heavy weapons) that need rebasing. The issue is that these bases are 55mm. Now, heavy weapons teams used to be 60mm, but this was recently downsized to 50mm. As 55mm is right in the middle. I figure that these are perfectly in the middle of that, even if not correct to any original size. Plus, I think 5mm one way or the other really isn't either noticeable or giving any advantages. Do you think that even tournament people would care?

I don't think people would even notice, let alone care.

Generally the pros and cons of being on a larger/smaller base cancel out IMHO. Some people might get a bug in their bonnet about it. Heavy weapon teams are not known for their auras or footprints for board control, which are two of the big perks for larger bases.

I’d have no issue with it.

I'd have no issue, and I'd be wary of people that do.

Sounds fine, both 60mm and 50mm are legal so I can hardly see why 55mm would be a problem.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

In fact it's *ultralegal* given it's the average of both permissible sizes!

Putting a model with an aura on an oversized base that doesn’t have any extra decor is not sporting.

But outside that? I really do not care. I’m even chill with an oversized aura base, provided there’s cool stuff on the base and the purpose wasn’t to powergame.

In other words, you’d be fine at a table with me.

I wouldn't even think about what size of base your weapon teams are on.
Let alone comment on it.

But then I don't rebase anything so I still have Tallarn, Mordian, etc teams still on 20mm rounds & "horse bases"....
(New stuff gets put on whatever bases come in the kit)
