How do!
Picked up my latest acquisitions today, in the form of two Heavy Support Force boxed sets. And I picked up a couple of much needed characters last weekend. That brings my total holdings to…
Painted
18 Thallaxi, with a mix of Multi-Melta and Photon Thrusters as their 1 per 3 upgrade.
10 Castellax. 5 have Bolt Cannon and Power Blade Array with Flamers, the other 5 have Bolters, Shock Chargers, 1 Bolt Cannon, 2 Multi-Melta, 2 Darkfire Cannons
1 Thanatar Cavas
Assembled but unpainted
1 Triators Armoured Conveyor
1 Archmagos Prime
20 Tech Thralls
Unassembled
2 Heavy Support Forces
1 Thanatar Cavas
1 Magos Macrotek (basically a fancy Tech-Priest)
1 Arcuitor Magisterum
So, across my forces, whilst I’m still somewhat light on Cortex Controllers, I’ve a nice mix of ranged options, and some reasonable-considering-nothing-is-combat-dedicated HTH capability. The latter will be addressed once the Ursarax are out. And the Arlatax which I presume is coming before too long.
Currently deciding how I want to arm my Krios. Pulse-Fusil feels nice, but I’m thinking the Lightning Cannon has greater ubiquity thanks to AP3 and Rend?
What are your thoughts and experiences on the Mechanicum.

You need some Myrmidon Secutors Dok. They are the melee punch for Mechanicum. Personally, waiting for some plastics, myself. You do you.

Agreed. You want to get your hands on myrmidons currently.

A Mostly Renegades and Heretics blog.
GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH. |

Yeah, I’m fairly resin adverse. I’ll do it where there’s no alternative for characters. But for Myrmidon’s I can do without for now.
Today I’m building the new Thantar. I’d forgotten just how beautifully design the whole kit is.

Made a trip to Warhammer Canterbury yesterday, picked up an Enginseer and Tech-Priest Manipulus to fill out my Mechanicum Priesthood.
I do wish they’d release more 30k Priests. For essentially Undead In Space, and reliant on a careful web of characters, we’re pretty underserved with Official Models.

Instead of "more priests", how about a priest with LOTS of options.

One of the many reasons I'm disappointed with the AdMech Kill Team - re-using the Technoarcheologist rather than giving us a new priest.

I can’t knock it too hard, as that’s a model I need, and I’m sure I can find a use for the Servitors.
Bonus there is I’ve a small Nid army, so the overall contents do appeal.
Today I think I’ll scrub and assemble my Resin priests.

After having faced a Mechanicum army, I am under the impression that it lacks ap2, particularly in assault
Is that true ? How would you handle a 2+, jumpacks equiped veteran squad for example ? I can think of the Thanatar but what else ?

We’ve a fair amount of Rend on ranged and HTH weapons.
Also, the Pulsar Fusil on the Krios Venator can hit pretty hard.

Also, the myrmidons (I think that's the unit?) have an absolute butt load of plasma, AND they can fight while being tough. Ad mech can play a mean game of screen-the-charges with thralls and tough explody bots, while also pounding out bunches of plasma and such.

Built 3 of 18 Ursarax this evening.
Very nice kit. Legs and pauldrons shared with the Thallaxi kit.
The arms are pretty flexible for a modern GW kit. There are a selection of fingers, which can go on any arm. Whilst the arms themselves are set poses, they’re not specifically paired.
So, by mixing and matching the arms and the fingers, you can get real variety in your dudes.
Will get picks in the morning showing the six arm poses, so folk have a clearer idea.

*Shooting!
*Thrall screen (they'll die or flee, but then you could shoot and/or charge with something else)
*Mymidon Secutors
*Vorax suicide squad
* CC equipped Magos with retinue
*Scoria
Well, I guess that's it. With Thallax (that you will have) you won't have any infiltrators around so you have some time to prepare.
