So this idea's been bouncing around in my head for a bit: we've seen Games Workshop license out a bunch of their old, out-of-print games for digital adaptations: think Blood Bowl, Space Hulk, Talisman, etc. Some of those were surprisingly faithful to the original rulesets.
That got me thinking: Would anyone else here be hyped for official PC or mobile versions of classic Warhammer 40,000 editions? Like, imagine a digital adaptation of 2nd Edition 40k. Psykers doing wild stuff, characters actually mattering, templates flying everywhere. Or even a proper 7th Edition game with all the formations and rules baked in. Not rebalanced, not turned into an RTS or a deck-builder. Just a straight-up, faithful version of how it actually played on the tabletop.
Same question goes for Warhammer Fantasy Battles; OG WFB. Not Total War style (as good as those games are), but a literal adaptation of 6th Edition, or 8th, or whatever your flavor is. Basically a rules-accurate, digital tabletop version of the classic experience.
Anyone else think there’s a niche for that? Would you play it? Or are we just too far gone into the era of simplified, IP-driven games?
Curious to hear what y’all think.
