Solo-play, SadHammer, SorrowHammer...
For circumstances I can't change I can't play with other boys so I just painting. At some moment I try play solohammer, it's feels really stupid at the start. But after some games I got few things.
1. I always have opponent with same mindset(if your solo opponent have different mindset reach your therapist....)
2. I have opponent anytime I wanna play.
3. Game can be any length like 9 hours split in 3 days over the week

And that's fine.
So my question do ya play solo 40k/boarding actions/killteam or any other games?

Yes, I often play solo games. 2,000 point 40K games more than anything else. Started during Covid and still do it sometimes. I also enjoy trying out scenarios against myself. The advantages include what you have already mentioned.

My main concern about playing solo is that if I have interpreted a rule wrong then my opponent (i.e. me) is interpreting it the same way. It doesn't really allow you to play better or understand the game better.

As anything in this hobby though, if you enjoy doing it and you're not infringing on somebody else's fun then go for it.

I have done, mostly for learning rules, but i certainly am not opposed to playing solo, though i feel the set up might be too tedious for 2k games. I do also have games like Five Parsecs to hopefully scratch that itch

Anyone tried the solo mode for Kill Team?

Played a Five parade from home campaign and had a lot of fun. The rules lean into the solo play. Also the Blackstone Fortress game works solo, was great during the pandemic.
I tried 40k, mostly at smaller points levels, but it's not as great. It's not the same unpredictable game if you know what your opponent is thinking ...

I'm playing Star Trek Alliances Solo and it's a lot of fun. It feels strange at first, but then you realize it's like playing a Video game.
However this game is made for solo/ cooperative play, I probably wouldn't do a game where I just play both sides these days. I tried that back when I started the hobby with lotr and it's not really compelling. Any kind of simple AI enemies will do for me though, so some kind of flowchart or dice rolls for what opposing units do should be good enough to at least feel like a game. As you're Solo, adjustment can happen on the fly, which is nice, too.
I've been planning on trying out Apocalypse with a solo game, as it should work quite simple with the commands, but I haven't gotten around to try that, yet.

I tried kill team solo, with my guards as npo against my kasrkins and that great tbh. Wanna try same approach for 40k.

I'm going to attempt to play Kill Team solo so I can learn the rules better.

The assault on black reach set had solo missions one was a "shut down the out of control dreadnought" by melee striking it from behined and a combat patrol thing where the bikes went from one end to the other taking out enemies for VPs

Kinda? I'll play against myself to help me learn the rules. Or remind myself of the rules.

For actual Solo play, I haven't really given it a go but I would like too. Been trying to get my hands on a copy of 5 Leagues from the Borderland to give it a go.

Of course! Sometimes, to find ones equal, one is forced to play against themselves! Equally bad that is.

There are many games designed for solo-play, and those can be a rewarding experience. Some games are not, but they can still be fun. In that case, you are playing "to find out" and occasionally even surprised because the RNGs do not always work out the way you would expect.

I went back and played some solo Blackstone Fortress over the weekend, it was plenty of fun and scratched the moving models and rolling dice itch.
I did find after two Combats i was done, so just pulled two Challenges and wrapped it up to head back to Precipice. This might be how i go about it for the future just to get through the game without it being a slog.

Yes I do.

Blackstone Fortress is the best recommendation in this case. I agree with Domican that you don't have to stick rigidly to the exploration rules, and you should feel free to adjust the game to your liking.

An optional recommendation is the "Blooded" Kill Team, as all the models can be used in Blackstone Fortress. The Ogryn and Enforcer will require some searching but they can easily replace any traitor guardsmen group in a combat. "Blackstone Fortress: New Order" is a fan expansion that has documented their character cards.

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

I would play out 3-10 turns of Decipher's Star Wars CCG back in my card playing day.

What am I getting in my draws? How much force do I need to generate to flip my objective (I forget what the missions were called)? Am I getting enough presence on the board to start force draining for 6+ on turn 4, which was always a personal goal as I was an aggressive player?

For 40k, at the most I'll layout some terrain, see what kind of board presence I have, and work out 2-3 movement/deployments, depending on what threats I think I would see at a tournament. For math-hammer, which I rarely do, I just sit down with pen and paper.

How many thunderhammer hits will reliably kill a knight, big or small? Same for lascannon shots? Same for Multi-melta shots? Now do it again for Khorne jackasses?

I prefer an opponent, but sometimes the narrative needs a game no one wants to play... Or else I'm planning on turning the game into a project and people JUST want to play.

Right now, I've got some vacation time, and I've been doing well painting. I have a pivotal Wych Cult Arena battle between two teams of five. It's a three round event:

Round 1: A full set of Wych weapons is hidden in the arena: anyone who finds a Wych weapon and gets it off the board keeps it.
Round 2: Five Khymerae pups are released; the model who inflicts the most damage to Khymerae will become a Beast Master, and the pup that inflicts the most damage on Wyches will become a full grown Khymera.
3: One MVP from each team goes head to head in an arena full of traps and treasures. The winner becomes a Succubus, while the loser must settle for the title of Hekatrix.

I can't find anyone to play, and it might be because I am hoping to take photos and notes to batrep the whole thing so I can post it. I'm even considering stop motion, because with a maximum of fifteen models in play at any given time, it isn't as daunting a project as it would be with a 2k army.

And if I don't find anyone? Yeah, the game HAS to be played solo because I can't grow my Wych cult(s) to fighting form until I know who won the Wych weapons, who is leaving to join the Hellions and who will be promoted.

T_T Dat's brilliant. Idk why people don't want play this kind of games. There is more sense than most games have.

It depends. Rank-n-flank games are not something you think about when it comes to solo rules, but I definitely plan on trying out the solos rules for Hobgoblin that came with the main rules.

Not only are they decent mechanically, but Mike Hutchinson wrote a really good bit at the front of the solo section of how he always refers to the AI force as "him" to remember the games he used to play with his father, and as someone with a dad who's in failing health, it really hit me in the feels.

I also like some of the games where the AI rules are a main feature of the game, like Rangers of Shadow Deep or Five Leagues/Five Parsecs.

Battletech: Alpha Strike is coming out with a complete and commercially available set of AI rules this fall.

While the main game is 1v1, the AI rules the author put out for Sword Weirdos and Space Weirdos are good enough that I was able to split the "main player" force in half with my 10yo son and play a cooperative skirmish game against the NPC enemies.

Yep. Great for figuing out new rules.
If I actually want a game then games or supplements designed for solo play are better than playing a 2 player game against myself.

For skirmish games, instead of playing both sides, consider hidden movement rules. This can either be "blips" (I use blank bases) moving on the board, or, for the cinematic, rolling a die when something might appear in LOS (eg. going around a corner).

Solo is great. Play at any time. If you get tired or need to look up a rule, you stop playing and pick it up whenever. If you have mini's to paint, you paint as you play (eg. games with random encounters, like Frostgrave). Frex, I'm playing the Descent dungeoncrawler right now, and am painting up the ogres and beastmen for the next scenario.

I personally have no interest in solo play, but if I were going to, I probably would play a game specifically designed for it.

Five Leagues from the Borderlands, Rangers of Shadowdeep, virtually anything by Two Hour Wargames, etc...

Solo Wargaming has a long and interesting history and there are game designers deliberately catering to that market. More than a few of these games could incorporate the Warhammer figures you already have.
