I have some great Japanese-styled Rough Riders with highly detailed but unfortunately curved lances in 32mm. Is there a way to straighten the curve out of them, possibly by applying heat, or other method?

I've snapped two in half trying to gently bend them the opposite direction to nullify the curve and don't want to try gluing any more back together.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I use hair dryer. It's give enough heat to make resin soft and straighten parts. Up to you can heat flag or banner straighten it, add freehand and after it's dryed heat again and bend the way you like

Outstanding- thank you for the advice! I have a heat gun, I'll set that to the lowest setting and see what we can do!

I've seen others replace resin lances with metal rods instead, with the lance tip glued on. That also helps with the inevitable breakage. Resin really is not meant for long and thin shapes.

Do not have experience bending resin, sorry.
But I used wooden coffee stir sticks for spears, the reaper plastic as you can see, spear shaft is strait, and the sword part is still bent.
If bending resin becomes too much of a hassle, you can always replacing the spears with a wooden/plastic/metal stick or rod.

I have used hot water quite effectively as well on thin printing resin thingies. Dip in boiling water, Straighten and then use cold water to stiffen again.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I don't like work with boiling water cause you know it's broiling water, hair dryer/heat gun gives a lot more control over process

Water does not need to be actively boiling, just hot.

It’s been a while since I worked with resin, and it was before 3d printing. But alternating hot/iced water baths and gentle bending worked for me.

Thanks all for the many good suggestions! I'm very grateful.

My first druthers was to replace the lance with a #4 sewing needle- I did this all the time with Napoleonics. But with white metal castings it's easy to use a pin drill to alter the hand to take the replacement lance- sometimes you could actually cut into the metal with a razor saw and fold the hand around the needle! But with resin, if I cut away the lance, Imma gonna hafta mod new hands out of greenstuff.

So, will try the heat/cold methods first, starting with least effort (hair dryer/heat gun) and wroking up to most intensive (boiling water/ cold water).

I'll let all y'all know how it went!
