Tapping the Glass at the Herpetarium

I've been reading a lot of old lore lately, and I've been contemplating tossing in a Ork Blood Axe merc or two into my Astra Militarum army I'm working on.

I think it would be kinda fun... but what to use them as.

One Idea I had was to put them in/on vehicles. But I'm not sure I could wedge them inside.

Another would be as a Ogryn Bodyguard (on a 40mm base)

Any ideas?

Fun idea - although I think it was usually a Imperial advisor to an Ork army

Mixed units sounds a bit unusual to me fluffqize because of Dogma on both sides. A squad of Kommandos or Stormboyz would be more along the lines of how imagine Guard and Orks working together.

However, if you just want to do rule.of cool and throw in occasional Orks, I could also see some boyz mixed with Catachans, the Kommando sniper somewhere, a Nob in an Ogryn squad. A loota with some human ammo runts as a heavy weapons team.

Commissar seems like the obvious pick. I do like the mental image of:

"What are your orders, sir?"
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH"
"Waaagh it is, sir!"

I have a human advisor for my blood axes, I would say stats wise a OGRYN would make most sense. And can’t give orders which makes sense too.

It is less common to see ORKS advising in IG armies but not impossible, would add some nice flavour, my copy this idea.

I have an idea.

A Blood Axes Kommando kills the Staff Commissar and replaces him.

As he is a better fighter now and doesn't execute people as often, the Guardsmen pretend not to notice.

I've seen that guy before... he just looks like Soviet Ork #282469. He doesn't scream Commissar to me.

I'm thinking the Tempestus Scion Coat might work and wrap it around an ork.

The Hat is going to be an issue though.
