How do!

Found my eye being drawn to the gorgeous, evocative Cities of Sigmar range. And I’m feeling some temptation to gather a small force. Looking at predominantly the modern models.

But I notice from the Webstore a load of the old Dark Elf range can be found under Cities.

So my question is the title. How do you put together such an army? Is it a free mix and match or what?

I wouldn't worry about the dark elf stuff. Chances are it's going to get dropped for new stuff this coming book.

But you can play them in a few different ways. Cannon heavy, Cavalier heavy or all out infantry spam. Really depends on what you feel like. Personally i like to run cannons in the back, Fusilier's in the front and with Cavaliers to flank.

Cities are the legacy of the traumatic birth of AOS as several Old World armies were lumped in there. It has been cleaned-up over the years, but it is still a mosaic army. You have humans, dwarves and dark elves. The 4h Ed list building mechanics are also tough for Cities. You generally need a hero and detachment for each type.

Cities was suddenly on top of the meta this summer with the Scourge of Gyran updates. The list that dominated was Pontifex and three Ironweld cannons that teleported around. That got nerfed.

An all-human force is absolutely viable, and I might recommend that to someone who does not have a bunch of Fantasy stuff they want to put on round bases. Cavaliers play the missions well while Fusiliers and Steelhelms can hold objectives. Some good prayers and spells are available, and the cannons are still good.

Dwarves have the very hard-hitting Hammerers. A reinforced unit is very killy! The future of Dwarves and Elves in the Cities army is rather uncertain, but for now they do offer some variety to a list and some units that can punch in melee.

I won a Cities army box in May and I had a bunch of Fantasy Dwarves lying around. So I built up a Cities army and went to a 2K event in October. I went 1-2, but I was in all the games.

All you have to do is fire three rounds a minute, and stand
