Announcing the New Year Warhammer Preview Live! 2026 – your first reveal show of the year
It’s 2026 – a brand new year, so what’s on the horizon? We know that the Maggotkin of Nurgle are plodding into pre-order this weekend, and we already have our tickets booked to visit the 500 Worlds of Ultramar and Grand Cathay, and that’s only the start of what is set to be a bumper year for Warhammer.
Well, we’re only one day in and here’s news of the Warhammer first preview show of the year!
The New Year Warhammer Preview Live! 2026 will be beamed across the world from right here at Warhammer World. Adam and Eddie will be your hosts, guiding you through all the awesome new reveals. Did you catch the subtle hints as to what might be coming in the video?
We can confirm The New Year preview will cover Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Age of Sigmar, Warhammer: The Horus Heresy, and Blood Bowl.
One thing that seems like a good bet for this preview is that we’ll find out more about Huron Blackheart’s Red Corsairs and the turbulent realm of the Maelstrom. Some of you might even have heard the reports, and seen the warp-distorted pict captures of battles from that cursed region.
We know that Huron isn’t pirating alone, and today we can show you one of his most loyal followers: This is Garreon the Corpsemaster – former Chief Apothecary of the Astral Claws, and rumoured to be one responsible for piecing Huron back together after he met the wrong end of a meltagun at the Siege of Badab.
He’s just one of a veritable battle barge full of new Corsairs*, sailing your way soon. You can see more of Huron, Garreon and the rest of the Red Corsairs live in the Preview show.
The show will be going out live at 7:30pm on the 16th of January, and you can watch it all on either Twitch or YouTube. And of course, we’ll have all the details and the massive photos of miniatures right here on Warhammer Community as soon as they’re revealed on the live stream.
So, file the date and time in your new 2026 calendar and we’ll see you right back here on WarCom for a sensational preview show!
* The Red Corsairs are not the only piratical force abroad across the stars… we’re hearing that there might be even faster and pointier pirates about too, but you’ll have to wait a little longer for full news on that.

Right hand end - that silhouette could fit a Loxatl from the Gaunts Ghosts series; it even appears to have a weapon barrel under the chest (Loxatl were lizard like alien mercenaries who used chest harness mounted flechette blasters).
A powerful mercenary like that would fit right in with Huron's retinue imo.

I'm just wondering how this will fit into the existing 40k armies - is it a Chaos hero group ala Gaunt's Ghosts? or a new Character & Elite unit for Heretics Astartes?

Which means they may end up being able to join a unit alongside Huron, that'd be pretty spicy. Them, Huron, 5 chosen in a land raider? Shame epic heroes can't join Nemesis Claw, that'd be perfect for a list themed around the time First Claw helped Huron invade a loyalist chapter's fortress monastery.

I appreciate that they are one of, if not the last, of the classic teams needing an update, but Blood Bowl already has too many Elf teams and not enough Dwarf teams - let's not make the ratio worse, eh?

They both existed for so long that it would be nice if GW got around to making a miniature of either. Both would be best of course.
Good luck, but I suspect it's too early for that. At the time anything from the January preview releases. Mk.II wouldn't even be a year old.

On the possibility of MkIV?
I’ve no doubt they and MkV are on the slate, somewhere.
What might help is if anyone can recall how soon after 2nd Ed launched that Plastic MkII arrived.
If memory serves they were in a battleforce, release around Halloween. But I can’t recall if it was the same year, or year after?

In the night lords omnibus he rolls with a unit of terminators, his retinue is with him on their asteroid base thing in the maelstrom though.

MkII arrived with Saturnine, so I assume you mean MkIII, which was about a year or so after AoD, IIRC.

Dwarfs aren't really that far off ratio wise. They have:
Dwarfs
Chaos Dwarfs
Old World Alliance (it is really just a Dwarf team that can take a few Human players and a Stunty or two)
Elves have four teams:
Wood Elves
Elven Union
Dark Elves
High Elves
While High Elves and Elven Union could have likely been merged going into Season 3, I would rather GW just finish the teams on the Teams of Legend list in case GW decides to drop Blood Bowl again before getting a new and unexpected team.

Yeah we did get refreshed Cataphractii Terminators only 6 months after they released Saturnine Terminators, and they did say the rate of transition to plastic was accelerating at the time of 3rd edition's release, so who knows. I do think we'll be waiting a while longer for either Mark IV or Mark V though, maybe late this year - just a feeling.

I saw those teasers as well, but I also wouldn't put it past GW to drop all those hints for it to be a new Death Zone book lol. GW has been dragging out making updated kits for the Teams of Legend since 2016, so I am not getting my hopes up too high (yet).

For the Horus Heresy reveal, my bet is Adeptus Mechanicus.
The next journal has SURPRISE Skitarii, and we've been teased with plastic myrmidons and vultarax kits.
My side bet is a Saturnine upgrade sprue for dual firsts and other assorted weapons. Automatically Appended Next Post:
IMO too close to MK2. Every MK release has also been a big boxed set so my guess is when they have a bunch of things to release they'll put them out. Maybe a box full of destroyers, Seekers and plastic Javelins or land speeders to make it a "must buy". But I wouldn't think that would happen before Summer.

MkVI and MkIII didn’t have a huge gap between them.
MkVI of course debuted in Age of Darkness. MkIII in the army set with the Deredeo. And whilst I can’t remember exact dates? I bought the MkIII and Deredeo set no later than Halloween 2023, possibly 2022.
Life has been a bit of a blur the past few years, so apologies for vagueness on years.

True, but I'm thinking a few new plastic kits of existing resin units to make it a big themed release. I'm not sure if there's a pattern there already- big show of force when a journal drops.

That would have been 2023. Mk.III was released a year and a quarter after the 2nd ed core box. Happily coinciding with the newly embiggened 40k Terminators, so I could get a squad of each in the same order.
