There is a floating rumor that there might be a new Knight in the pipeline. Something mid-sized between the larger and smaller knights. Let's just assume this is true. What would you like to see in it, both roll wise and physical appearance wise?

For me, I'd actually like something that ditches the two-leg visual. Also, something that is very "meh" in close combat (low number of attacks and bad WS, but if it gets a lucky hit it will crush you). And in my mind I hope it looks sort of like this old concept art:

That's not really a Knight then, is it? More of an AdMech thing, like an upsized Onager Dunecrawler.

And the existing "All Gun" Knights are quite bad in melee already.
Four WS4+ S8 AP-1 D2 attacks are fine... For an Infantry model. For a model around 400 points, it's absolutely garbage. Which is fair, since they pack a lot of gun!
But for reference, you don't even average a single dead MEQ from that profile.

For more in-depth math against MEQ...
60% to kill one.
20% to kill two.
3% to kill three.
1/5th% to kill four.

Against TEQ...
6% chance to kill one.
1/50th% chance to kill two.

Clocks for the clockmaker! Cogs for the cog throne!

I wouldn't mind something that was "Admech-lite" for the knights. Something they throw the feudal worlds as a generic medium walker to fill the lines. Something in the 200-250 point range. Being the "tank destroyer" of the Knight faction. I was thinking something with three attacks in close combat, and only armed with a couple stubbers and one big honking gun, like the volcano lance on the Knight Castellan.

How about a Death From Above style Knight... Ala the Marauder Suits from Starship Troopers 3: Marauder or BattleTech something with Jump Capability that might have less weapons but can transverse the tabletop easier.

So something like a super-sized version of the Tau Coldstar commander? A knight deepstriking might be a little OP, but I could see something like that moving 12 inches a turn with a pre-game movement.

I'd like to see them get something that lets them play the objective game more. Ideally some sort of less than Guard repair/support crews to sit on objectives, but potentially some sort of Sentinel sized walker than can enter terrain and such.

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.

Thoughts on this: If there are repair crews, or really any kind of infantry really, what about a transport walker? I think the only other faction that currently does this is Orks, right? Huh, I wonder what an Knight version of a Gorkanaught would look like?

I didn't mean with any sort of Titanic Walker Transport. Knights were not built with the modern game in mind. They need a unit that can do what the BATTLELINE INFANTRY does. What I was thinking: Imagine a Sentinel trying to look like an Invictor Warsuit. No armor, exposed cockpit, less tough than a Dread (or in this case Sentinel) So T5 instead of T7 (which makes them not 6+ to wound by lasgun levels) Instead of Multilasers and such, there's a flamer arm for repair work (and flamer attacks) and a Servo Arm... 1-2A WS5+. Take the same fluffiness for the Techmarine Servo Harness type of thing. Make them OC3-4 and squadrons of 3-5. Vehicle Keyword for Anti- but follow all rules as if they were infantry to future proof.

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.

House Faust deploys all of their Knights from giant Teleportariums directly into battle...

But I was thinking something like the GhostKeel. A highly mobile scout walker made to range ahead from the pack and identify targets or like a hound chase down escaping prey.

That it's for Eldar or Orks and not the Imperium.

The old 'bright stallion' quadrupeds would fit the bill.

Being a bit of a sourpuss: New knights would be mostly irrelevant to me because I try not to play them. They've got cool models and lore, but they just don't translate well into a game of 40k's scale.

So if we have to give them more support instead of giving them the imperial agents treatment, some kind of infantry/ground crew is probably the way to go. Give opponents a way to play against knights with their S4 guns that isn't just fishing for 6s.

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

There's been mention of the "siege engines of the bullish Trycholous-class" in recent publications (I saved the quote but can't remember where it's from!). However, I'd expect a siege Knight to be Cerastus-sized at the least...

The AdMech does have tripod titans (the rare Punisher-class) so tripod Knights aren't out of the question.
