Hey guys!

Im trying to decide which army to collect, and im really struggling. I like both armies aesthetically equally. Lore wise I suppose I lean more towards EC, but then ive always enjoyed the knightly aspect of fantasy.

I dont get a load of time currently to paint or play either. Which I dont know if it plays into the decision making as some people say EC are a much harder army to pilot.

Can anyone help me decide? ?. Thanks!

Go with your heart is generally the right answer. Rules come and go, mechanics change.

DA are probably easier to paint. They also have a much larger model range, with access to most of the loyalist range. EC only get a fraction of the chaos stuff.

Yeah unless you adore EC go with DA. EC only have about 15 entries in the codex, and that's if you use the one detachment that lets you field daemon allies. The models are lovely, but they're super limited.

Don't listen to the above advice, Emperor's Children are so much prettier. If you want to challenge your painting skills, they're the way to go. There's enough Imperial players already.

Echoing this. Nothing wrong with EC, but they are limited. DA are much less so.

In ur gaem, killin ur doodz.

EC's power fantasy is a high movement, close combat oriented, scalpel that picks and chooses their engagements, and looks to control the battlefield through speed.

The DA are space marines, so they can do it all, but the most powerful units tend to make the DA an incredibly elite army that is relatively slow and instead seeks to recieve charges, and then weather the storm. The addition of the Lion gave them some reactivity, and speed to control the field, but knights are slow and tough, and easily the best unit point for point.

All versions of the EC army are going to be the same.

DA can also play a tactical shooting army, or an in-your-socks biker army (that is surprisingly effective) on top of their "bash your head against their brick wall" army.

Pick your power fantasy. It's 40k so you can't go wrong as long as you're having fun.
