Hey all!

Getting back (again) into 40k and my mate and I have planned a 3-game campaign against each other. The original premise was a 3-game highlander, where all 3 lists count toward the highlander rules, but then we realised we have multiple armies each, so it's 3 games with 3 armies, randomly selected, 1000pts highlander.

My 3 armies are Orks, Chaos Space Marines, and Imperial Guard (rebel grots).

For Orks, I can field near-enough anything, provided the models are over 5 years old, and have had a few games of late with them, so I can probably handle them. Guard has seen maybe 1 game in 10th, and Chaos has been MIA since the tail-end of 7th edition.

What I could do with is a bit of a "this is how these armies work this edition" rundown for Guard and Chaos, so that I can hopefully make a few decent decisions for the armies (which I will then run through y'all back here to see what you think!).

I look forward to seeing what everyone can offer by way of advice, and I will dig out the armies and see what options I have at present!

Nothing like rejoining the game in the literal closing days of an edition.... (11e arrives next month!)

Orks tend to punch things

CSM tend to shoot & punch things, relying on their Dark Pact rules to make those attacks more effective.

Guard tend to shoot things

Beyond that you'd have to share what you've got.

If you gave us a list of models we could scrap something together.

I will sort out a list of models - shouldn't take too long for the Guard, I have 4 units of infantry in chimeras, basilisk, hellhound, command squad, commissar, 5 ratlings, 5 valkyries, and a hydra/wyvern, off the top of my head.

Chaos will need me to dig to find them for the specifics, but I have upwards of 60 khorne berzerkers, 10 noise marines, circa 30 chaos space marines, 3 chaos dreadnaughts (I'll be dead in my grave before I accept the name "Helbrute"), a maulerfiend, 2 obliterators, 20ish terminators, terminator lord, lord with jump pack, 2 chaos predators, 2 chaos land raiders, 2 chaos rhinos, 10 possessed, over 10 bikers, a couple of sorcerers, 2 daemon princes, a unit of khorne juggernauts, khorne lord on juggernaut, kharne the betrayer, huron blackheart (I think), Typhus, 20 plague marines, 10 thousand sons, and probably more that I've forgotten!
