Hello, everyone!

I took the plunge a few years ago after enjoying Warhammer 40,000 lore and video games (Dawn of War!) for many years before that, but between being busy (two small boys, two new jobs, two moves, my wife's cancer diagnosis and recovery, my father's death) and my own perfectionism, I've only finished a couple of miniatures.

The first is a tech-priest enginseer. I work in tech, so I found the Adeptus Mechanicus's cargo cult approach to technology to be darkly humorous, and I love the retro sci-fi look. Then I decided that I didn't want my first miniature to get lost in a mass of Skitarii. I only broke him a few times and had to strip the primer twice... I'm working on a different project now, but this guy enjoys a prominent spot on my desk.

That's an amazing first mini! Welcome to the board. One of the great things I have found about this hobby is that none of it rots, so you can get to progress things very much at your own pace

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Welcome onboard, OldeSword!

Never feel that you have to finish something now, or be quick about it. It took about 20-odd years to finish my army, which I started back in 2003!

And Davien felt a kick inside her, as though some organ she never knew she’d possessed was suddenly pumping. She looked into their faces, her own little congregation, and they were connected to her, souls speaking to her soul. My family, she knew. Blood of the angels.

Thank you both for the encouragement. It helps knowing that there are other hobbyists who have needed to take their time.

I see these great armies that people have and wish that I could play a couple of games, but I do enjoy painting and want my miniatures to look good. I'll try to relax and enjoy the journey.
